The hosts Hitomi-san and Shigeru-san were so helpful and welcoming. We had a delicious breakfast and dinner, and Shigeru-san provided us with recommendations for what to do and where to eat on the island. The house itself was very clean, the futons so comfortable, the shared bathroom and toilets were spotless. We loved our time in Yakushima and this place played a big part in that!!

The hosts were amazing: we arrived with a minor infection and Taguchi-san drove us to the pharmacy (not that close to where we were) and then to the clinic, and looked after us, making sure we had our medicine and were healing. We also lost our phone and Taguchi-san helped us find it (calling everywhere and offering to go pick it up when we found it). He also arranged for car rides to and from dinner, dinner reservations at an excellent restaurant in town, and everything. Really incredibly generous, knowledgeable, supportive hosts. Best we've ever encountered. And what others say about the food, is no exaggeration: truly delicate and delicious.

We were treated like family and special guests, so nothing we didn't like.

I always like staying in local places. The owners are very lovely and helpful. The husband built the house, and I can tell the quality that goes into it. It is a beautiful place. The location is great. Will love to go back somedays

The hosts are very kind and hospitable. They were extremely helpful with tips for exploring Yakushima and we loved their hike and restaurant recommendations. The dinner we had at the hotel was one of my favorites in all of Japan. Would definitely stay again.

As i have said in my google review, i think this is the best homestay you can find in Yakushima. This is my second time staying with Taguchi and Hitomi san and as the 1st time, they are so nice and accommodating. They gave great suggestions ** i walked and climbed some difficult trails and it took me a total of 14hrs in2 days ** my legs ohh...hahha...and they also offered to pick you or send you to the port for your trip. They did their outmost best to make you feel at home which I said it did make me feel very welcome ^^ Clean and cosy...the room is big and the house is well designed.

I think this time, its not their fault. But the other guests were really loud, opening and closing their room doors. I am a bit annoyed but everything quiet down after like 11pm. Just...a bit of reminder to other guests to keep your noises down and have some courteousy to slowing walk, closing or opening of doors etc...

15min walking from the supermarket and tourist info centre, 20-40min from restaurants. The owners are super welcoming, very nice, and they cook very well. I highly recommend the dinner there, which is amazing and good price.
