Yakunoyado Taguchi

We stayed here for 2 nights in April 2024. The hosts, Shigeru-san and Hitomi-san, were very friendly. They offer free pick-up from/to the airport. We had breakfast and dinner here and the meals were delicious. Our room was very cozy and the shared facilites were clean.

They have a cat but we didn't get to meet him/her. Haha.

The host was super nice and kind. They even picked me up from the airport and dropped me off. It was pleasant time. Thank you so much!

Just a bit too far from the town center if you are without car

The hosts at Yakunoyado Taguchi were amazing and kind. Shigeru picked me up from the port and I found the area relatively easy to walk around and explore. There is a bus to take you around, too, if you want. Taxis are not easy to secure if you don't rent a car. I wish I had made a reservation for meals! I was sad to miss out on the hostess' cooking (entirely my fault). Be sure to let them know two days in advance. Amazingly, Shigeru was able to take me around the island, for a very reasonable fee, and I got to see *so* much I otherwise would not. I was so lucky! It was a magical day.

It's not a complaint, but just know this is a B&B with shared bathrooms and the walls are a *little* thin. But I found the room spacious, the bed comfortable. You can lock your door, and everyone kept to themselves!

The location is slightly outside the small port town, surrounded by the forest. The room is small, but very comfortable and everything is very clean. The staff is amazing, always there to help you with recommendations. They also pick us up from the port and gave us a couple of lifts to several locations. Definitely recommended!

Clean and well-mantained facility with appropriate number of bathrooms and toilets. Owners were very friendly and would give suggestions to improve your plans. Clean and simple room with a nice view of the mountains. Free wifi.

The hosts are so incredibly friendly and were able to accommodate us arriving early, even having the room ready though we didnt expect that. They were SO helpful in arranging for a rental car as well. We had breakfast one morning too, which was super delicious. They gave us lots of information on things to do and see in Yakushima. Its located on the hill, just five minutes drive from the port so you definitely need a car. It was very quiet and you could see so many stars from the yard. The bed is a traditional futon room, and it was very comfortable. We had amazing weather while there so actually had to turn the air conditioning on a couple times.

It is a guest house, so bathrooms are shared and you may hear noise from other guests.

The host made a reservation of a rental car on behalf of us at the peak season, which greatly helped us. We had breakfast every day (1,800 yen per person) during our stay and they were great. The dishes include grilled mackerel/salmon, several cooked vegetables/sea weeds, soup, and yogurt. We also had a nice dinner (3,200 yen per person) including grilled amberjack, amberjack sashimi, smoked mackerel, and braised pork belly.

I have no complaints for the stay, but beware that the facility is basically a B&B (one shared dining room, two shared bathrooms, two shared shower rooms, and one shared fridge), not a private house.
