Kongkeo Guesthouse

KongKeo guest is fantastic while visiting Phonsavan. The rooms are clean and comfortable with great hot water showers. Mr Kong also offers professional plain of jar tours that are full of history and cultural facts, along with hidden stories of the famous Jars.

Owner and wife are awesome

The guesthouse is situated a bit away from the main road and it's nicely arranged, featuring also a community area, where you can sit and relax.

We didn't like the smell of smoke at the guesthouse.

Kongkeo guesthouse was very clean and had very good facilities including comfy bed, mosquito net and hot shower. Also a very nice communal area with a fire and hot drinks. Kong was an amazing host!! We went on a day tour of the Plain of Jars sites and Kong knew everything and took the best photos for us. He also took us to book a bus and arranged a tuktuk to get us. Thank you so much for our stay!

Kong and his wife were terrific! Plants in pots in the garden, a nightly fire in bomb casings...created a special atmosphere for a backpacker style hostel. We had a basic twin room with own shower, toilet. We did 2 day tours with Kong and learned so much about Laos history. Recommend for inexpensive, basic stay. Restaurants are close by ( 2 to 5 minutes walk) as Kongkeo does not have meals.

Beds were very firm.

Being close to the centre of town, the location of the hotel is very good and the room was comfortable. There is a convivial atmosphere with other travellers that makes for a pleasant stay.

While not a direct comment on accommodations at the guesthouse, I was hoping to make arrangements with the proprietor to visit the famous and nearby Plain of Jars site. During my stay, this was not possible. Luckily, I went to the nearby very excellent unexploded ordinance museum - MAG - Mines Advisory Group - on the main street of Phonosavan - and was able to arrange a private tour with a friend of the museum coordinator. The tour was outstanding and the museum itself is an eye-opening, must-see, very valuable experience.
