Yonan River Face Safari Resort

What a wonderful location! Such a beautiful scenery in between nature, so quiet and relaxing. The host is absolutely great, making both a delicious dinner and breakfast. Organised the safari and jeep for us and helped arranging a taxi to get to the accommodation. Spacious, modern room with great air-conditioning. We wish we could have stayed longer than one night!

Decent rooms and close to udawalawe.

Decent cabins and location close to udawalawe, but embarrassing treatment from the manager. I stayed for one night and joined another group who chose to book their safari through the recommendation of a friend (not with the hotel’s safari booking service). At first the manager said it was ok, but he was clearly annoyed, and then brutally kicked a dog. After the safari, he confronted us in a passive aggressive and angry manner, though it was very confusing with his broken english. He claimed to booking.com that we didn’t show up for the reservation, and refused to accept payment for our 1 night stay and dinner. We kept offering to pay but he refused, but then ridiculed us for “using his electricity” and insinuated that we were bad and cheap people. It was deeply uncomfortable and it was never communicated before that we were expected to use his safari; in all of my past hotels in Sri Lanka the proprietors offer you experiences but are respectful of you decline. I hope this man changes how he approaches this business because it is a shame. Good luck sir. Update: now that I have posted this review, he has tried to call and harass me, and has now sent me a message accusing me of not paying and calling me an “ugly woman.” Charming!

This Guesthouse took our breath away. Next to the river surrounded by beautiful nature we had the best two days here. You heare and see all kinds of animals passing by and can borrow one of the two boats for free to paddle over the River. When we arrived the host made us a delicious welcome fruit juice or on the other day got a fresh coconut for us from the tree. The huts you stay in are immaculate with everything you need and also a hot shower. The food we were lucky to enjoy in the evening was delicious and more then plenty the same applies for the breakfast. We had some great accommodations during our stay in Sri Lanka but this one really sticks out. It is just over all perfect. So don't look further and come here.

Bicycle use, good suggestions - very helpful host! Organised us a safari with Ruan which was great! Good meals, free water bottles - water filter setup would be better for less plastic waste.

The owner is very friendly, speaks good english and helped me with the jeep safari. Beautiful view on the lake during breakfast. And a lot of birds. There is bus stop nearby (ask the owner). And also a fun bar close to a small stream.

The place is.really amazing.The room nice and comfortable,.we enjoyed swimming and relaxing beside the river, the breakfast was excellent and the owner so kind and helpful.He arranged a safari for us which was amazing and gave us bicycles to go around..Wish we could stay more.

Everything about this place was fantastic! Very nice owner, who made sure we had a wonderful stay. Free bikes to use. Delicious breakfast! It's an excellent and peaceful location with a beautiful view of the river. The room was spacious and very clean. Would highly recommend staying here if you come to Udawalawe. HOW TO GET THERE: If you're coming by bus from Thanamalwila, insist the busdriver to stop at the busstop of Udawalawe Hydro Power Plant at the mainroad, it's a 30min walk from there. Otherwise the busdriver seems to drop off all tourists at the junction which is 4km away, collaborating with the tuktuks as you have no other option than to take an overpriced tuktuk. If you travel onward to Embilipitiya, the busstop is just a 5 min walk from the mainroad of the accomodation. Turn left and walk to the bridge. It's the starting point of the bus to Embilipitiya, where you can take another bus to the south/Tangalle.

This place is paradise. The host has created an Amazing garden, the „bungalows“ are well furnished and comfortable and the location is perfect for 2-3 nights or even longer. The owner made the most amazing dishes for breakfast and lunch- very delicious local specialties (we had banana flower relish for example as part of the breakfast). He also organised a wonderful tour at Udawalawe and took us to a non touristic mountain temple and the elephant orphanage and gave us fishing gear and Thanks for this memorable stay!

A quiet place away from the crowd, which we were looking for. The caretaker was hospitable and sincere.

Gorgeous location, can't ask more for a peaceful escape. Make use of the traditional kanoe for sunset. Home cooked dinner and breakfast was delicious. Very easy to arrange a safari, we had a great time with Sujee he gave so much information on the safari.
