Blooming Rose Ella

The balcony, the spaciousness of the room, the breakfast and the quiet location. All of these four were TOP - 10 out of 10 :)

We stayed for four nights and during this time we did not get our rooms cleaned. Would be best if the staff cleans it once every two days since this is a destination primarily for hikers walking in dirt and mud.

The view is like a dream

The views were fantastic, both from the balcony and during breakfast. The owners are incredibly friendly and interested in their guests. Breakfast was fresh and varied. The bed was comfy, bathroom clean and the AC worked. Oh, and a constant WiFi connection to boot!

Currently, the owners are expanding and thus the entrance to the rooms is through a construction site. Not a problem but surprised us when we first arrived.

Unique experience. Peaceful. Beautiful views. Relaxing. Loads of squirrels. Fantastic Sri Lankan breakfast.

At the moment they are constructing additional facilities. Had to walk through a construction site. This will only be temporary and I wish them well with their expansion.

Geweldige plek op de heuvel met prachtig uitzicht, heerlijk en uitgebreid ontbijt en enorm vriendelijke en behulpzame staff.

Dit wisten we al, maar ‘s avonds moet je met een tuktuk naar het centrum. Overdag kan lopen prima. De host is altijd bereid je te helpen en je zelfs te brengen met zijn tuktuk.

De familie is zo ontzettend aardig, en denken met je mee. Wij wouden naar de waterval, en de jongeman checkte toch nog even of we wel de goeie route in Google Maps hadden ingevoerd. Dit zijn dingen die wij ontzettend waarderen. Ontbijten op de veranda is echt geweldig en het ontbijt opzich is ook fantastisch! Goeie tip is om een scooter te huren, die 200 meter van het hotel vandaan is. De ligging is namelijk net wat te ver om savonds te lopen vanuit de stad. Echter wil de eigenaar je ook elk moment van de dag brengen met de tuktuk:)

Er is eigenlijk niks aan te merken op het verblijf. Het enige wat wellicht wat lastiger is, is het feit dat er geen restaurant is.

Our host/owner/family was extremely friendly and had staff waiting for us at the top of the steps as you access it via steps down into it. Not the easiest to find! The room was lovely and a smaller hotel so feels very personable. He explained how to access the rail tracks down and then you walk along them to ella which took maybe 15mins. Feels mad to walk the tracks but its totally normal and when you hear a train and feel a vibration get off! The breakfast one of the best. We think cooked by his wife. Hoppers, egg, fruit with the best views of waterfalls and rolling hills. Could stare at it all day. We left our luggage there after checking out and our host couldn't have been more helpful. Its a good location if you dont mind walking up bit of a hill once youre off the tracks but its not long to get up to the hotel once you leave the tracks. The trade off if you stay slightly out of ella is the views but being further out. On reflection we should have stayed here the whole 3 nights instead of moving further up into the hills. There is construction work going on but it in no way affected our stay. Its from the damage from the awful flooding they had here so im glad they are rebuilding.

The breakfast was delicious and serving was abundant. The family was polite and very welcoming.

The way to the room requires you to pass through an under-construction building which reduces the overall experience. a per the owner, they are expanding and adding more rooms. however, it does affect your experience. in terms of value for money, it should be a little cheaper.
