Shady Edge

Really cute, traditional room right in front of the beach! Family were so lovely, they made us coffee and tea and looked after us well. The room didn’t have air conditioning but we felt good with the powerful ceiling fan. I’d recommend this budget stay to anyone travelling to this part of Sri Lanka!

I’d have liked hot water in the shower but for the price it didn’t bother me

incredible breakfast,it was gigantic and local. the place is really nice, with a lot of plants. An oasis to hang out. the family is really kind, brought us tea and did our laundry.

I came to this area to enjoy morning yoga classes at Sri Yoga Sala, (which is a lovely 20min green countryside walk from Shady Edge), and to be near the beach! I stayed for 10days and every morning at 06.30 I was served strong coffee on the outside patio by the lady owner. The place is so private and sweet. Family lives above. They are caring and kind; mother and father and their two daughters. The place is spotless. New bathroom, polished concrete floor and a big four-post bed with mosquito net, fan in the ceiling. I had perfect cool comfortable nights. Beach is just opposite the road. Turtles in the ocean. Despite a busy road/bus stop on one side, and the railway track on the other, it is really quiet once you close the wooden door and enter inside your private patio with big green plants. Next door is a little shop, selling fresh fruits and necessities. Owner of this shop is a fun sister to the family. I highly recommend Shady Edge if you want great value for your money and are looking to experience true honest kindness from one very special family.

Family staff are very nice. the room was clean and has got a patio for yourself, however, The large bed takes over the most of the room do not spacious.

I did t like much the entrances of the room which can’t hide all the privacy. and so many mosquitoes in the room.

Amazing family. If you need to get anywhere the history is also a tuk tuk driver! So kind. Absolutely no greed! He made a point to give me back money because I had overpaid.

It was perfect

The room and bathroom are spacious, beautiful and very clean. The bed has a very good quality. But most of all the family who runs this place is fantastic! They are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast they serve is amazing. We also did a cooking class with them which we would definitely recommend.
