Plantation Inn

I loved this place, it was the perfect spot for me as a digital nomad and solo traveler. Especially good if you’re staying long lengths of time as it feels very homely and has a kitchen. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and make you feel at home. The rooftop view is amazing especially for sunrise. Rooms were clean. They also cooked a lovely dinner as a gift to one of their long term guests and we were all invited to join it was super nice.

My room was very hot at night unfortunately and there was quite a few ants but that’s expected and I’ve experienced in most places in Sri Lanka.

good location, quiet and peaceful, far from all the loud parties very good shower with hot water and nice water pressure manager Sithu is really responsive, helpful and she is a charming personality excellent wifi connection, speed is over 100 mbs

there is no AC in the room, which is noted in the description, but keep in mind it might be really stuffy in the room

This is a great place if you want a big room with a (shared) kitchen, not right downtown. Scooter or walking, Weligama restaurants and beach are close. The host family is so kind, helpful, and lovely. Such interesting people! In terms of quiet, that really depends on who else has booked the place. When I was there, there were some Italian surfers staying 4+ weeks and some other folks who were super respectful of common areas and the big fridge. Great stay! It's not in the pics, but that kitchen is a big bonus! There's one "part" of Plantation Inn with 2 rooms downstairs, 3 rooms upstairs, and 2 kitchens: one one each floor, each has all the stuff and a full-size fridge. There's another "part" or building that I didn't see. But if you want to make a few meals for yourself, this is that spot! Laundry washing is available right there, which is so much less stress than having your clothes go off-site and hoping they return

Very comfortable rooms, amazing hosts, fast and reliable wifi.

You have enough space, it’s a big room. It’s a calm chill area with an amazing view from the first floor.

Although it’s near the beach, it’s far from everything else. Wouldn’t advice anyone who’s travelling alone to stay there as it can get expensive just going on tuktuks so much. You need to pay attention to the fact that there’s no food available in the accommodations so you’ll always have to go outside. Sometimes the power was not working in the morning.

The best wi-fi I've ever seen on the island! Huge thanks to the hosts for that. New renovation (but it's still in progress), nice kitchen, large refrigerator, lots of common space. Very friendly hosts, always willing to help.

The rooms are stuffy even with the windows and doors open. This place needs air conditioning for more comfort.

We totally loved the stay there. Host family was really welcoming and helpful, they were taking care of the place and always helped when we needed anything. The rooms were very clean and spacious, also the whole place seemed and was new. As we were working remotely from there, we took advantage of all the space we could, the kitchen with a sofa and a chair to sit, garden as well as rooftop with amazing view of the ocean. (For all of you working remotely, the wifi was the best we had on Sri Lanka.) Next time we would gladly go back! Totally recommended place for a stay in Welligama.

great location. amazing helpful and welcoming family. great comfortable rooms with good mattress and fan. all renovated and clean like the bathroom.
