The owner was very welcoming and made us an amazing breakfast at a stunning location!one of the rooms we took was absolutely beautiful with giat stones in the walls, we loved it!

There is no parking nearby, and it's a climb uphill to get to the place, so that's important to know. The second room we took (the family room) was a bit outdated, and the bed was a little too hard for our liking. But it was clean and perfectly fine.

Monsanto très beau village. Dépaysant, a voir. Taverna lusitana impossible de comparer, unique en soi, il faut s’y rendre. Terrasse devant coucher de soleil à ne pas manquer. My god les rues en pente très impressionnant. J’y retournerai plus longtemps.

Joao and Elena have an extraordinary venue combining a small taverna with several rooms, all situated among the magnificent boulders of the hilltop village of Monsanto. The only negative would be the 10-minute uphill walk from your parking place in the village lot but totally worth it! Views of the surrounding countryside are out of this world. It’s amazing how this couple fashioned comfortable accommodations out of spaces between huge rocks. Their food is tasty Portuguese fare, mostly big toasty sandwiches. Breakfast is a special occasion with many choices. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of place to enjoy and remember. Joao and Elena are super friendly and hospitable hosts! Loved our balcony room!

The room was so unique, sparkling clean, modern and comfortable. Best night’s sleep! The breakfast was beyond what anyone could eat at one sitting, fresh and beautifully set on their outside patio overlooking all of Monsanto. Best of all - the owners were warm and wonderful hosts. This might be the best hospitality we have ever run across. Please stay and/or eat at this establishment when visiting Monsanto!

We recently spent two nights at the Taverna Lusitana and would like to thank the hosts for making us feel so welcome. The room was clean and comfortable and had a kitchenette that was well equipped. The breakfast, served on the small terrace overlooking this amazing historical village, was delicious with a selection of fruits, breads, meats and cheeses. Also the perfect spot for a cold drink in the afternoon! Would highly recommend!
