Kande Gedara Resort (කන්දෙ ගෙදර)

Wonderful location away from the center, surrounded by beautiful nature, with the jungle and the mountains right at your door for hiking. Calm and relaxing, ideal starting point for walks. You'll need a tuk tuk to get to town, but the manager can organize one for you, or you can hail them on the road. There is also a convenient bus stop for the town at the entrance of the residence. Only a couple of rooms guarantee a nice quiet stay. The super friendly manager lives on site and will prepare Sri Lankan dinners and breakfasts for you at a very reasonable price. He's always available and willing to help. At the residence, you'll find an indoor dining room, a lounge, an outdoor patio, and gardens all around. Very affordable, clean, and comfortable. Please note that there is no hot water, but the cold water is not that cold. No A/C either, but the night air is cool, so we slept with the windows opened. The drive up to the residence is rough and very steep, but the tuk tuk manage to get up there, not so sure with a low car.

The thick pillow gave me a neck ache in the morning. A mosquito net around the bed would be great. There is only a fan in the room. With this heat, it is nice to sleep with the windows open. Unfortunately, open windows attract bugs.

The property was located in an environmentally friendly atmosphere surrounded with mixed trees and plants in a mountainous area (as implied by the Sinhalese name 'Kanda'. Micheal who is the owner and was looking after the property was friendly and ready to help. He also cooked and prepared Sri Lankan type food as per pre order with reasonable time in advance for him to go to shops and purchase the food items to cook.

The entrance the property was steep and rough and was not suitable for my car Suzuki Swift RS with a very low front spoiler. So the car was left on the drive of the neighbour opposite who kindly allowed me to park there. The was clean to local Sri Lankan standards only. No hot/warm water for shower.

the garden view is absolutely beautiful, and the food is the highlight! super clean place, everything is perfect!

Everything was good, nice host,tasty food

The caretaker was very helpful. It was difficult for our car to go up the last bit so he immediately called for a tuk-tuk and arranged to take everyone up even at 8:30 PM. His food was delicious as well! The location is beautiful and calm in the morning! Very good value for money!
