Encanto do Sol

Everything was perfect! The hosts were really kind, the apartment was big, well equipped and very clean! The views from the huge balcony were amazing and the hot tub was a bonus! Great stay!

What a magical location, set amongst a banana plantation and with spectacular views. The owners were on hand if needed and made you feel at home. It was a really relaxing place to stay. It’s about a ten minute walk to the bottom of the hill where most of the restaurants are located. The kitchen was well equipped if you wanted to cook. There’s a lovely huge veranda and also a hot tub.

Communication with the host was pleasant; Juan was set to greet us upon our arrival. While street parking is an option, there's also a small parking about 30 meters away in a nearby side street. Juan and Catia's property isn't directly accessible from the road; you have to descend about 20 steps. We had opted for the top apartment, Encanto do Sol II. Below it sits Juan and Catia's residence, with another holiday apartment, Encanto do Sol I, adjacent. Following a tour of the house and its large terrace, Juan promptly led us to his own garden. He enthusiastically shared about his bananas, papayas, and chickens, even allowing us to pick eggs or other produce for our use. Additionally, he provided ample tips for our visit to Madeira. Encanto do Sol II is a charming, well-kept, and spacious apartment that, due to its location, feels more akin to a detached bungalow. Privacy abounds, and access to the owner's garden is available through an unlocked door in the fence, next to the jacuzzi. Besides the jacuzzi, the terrace boasts a barbecue (charcoal provided) and comfortable garden furniture. Indoors, a well-equipped kitchen-living (complete with an LCD TV, WiFi, oven, microwave, washing machine, and fridge with large freezer) awaits. There's unfortunately no dishwasher or air conditioning, but this was unnecessary in January. Upon arrival in the living room, a large bowl of fruit, a bottle of wine, and a liqueur greeted us warmly. The bedroom features high-quality beds and mattresses, complemented by abundant natural light streaming in through two large windows, both fitted with mosquito nets and easily darkened with curtains and shutters. At the opposite end of the house lies the bathroom boasting a delightful shower with a view. Upon our departure, we were gifted a delicious homemade Bolo de Mel, making our farewell all the more bittersweet...

Very quiet surroundings in a beautiful garden with views. The owners really make you feel at home.

During our stay at Encanto do Sol in Madeira, Juan and Catia, our wonderful hosts, made our experience truly exceptional. Their warmth and hospitality were evident in every aspect of our stay. Notably, Juan's gesture of allowing us to freely pick fruits and vegetables from their garden, along with the delight of collecting freshly laid eggs from their chickens, added an extra layer of charm to our visit. The house itself, Encanto do Sol, stands out as one of the most beautiful places we've ever had the pleasure of staying in. However, what truly took our breath away was the panoramic view of the entire bay. Waking up to such a breathtaking sight every morning was a privilege, and we often found ourselves savoring aperitifs on the terrace, surrounded by the lush beauty of the garden. Speaking of the garden, it's a magical place in its own right. From the banana grove to the various other plants, it added to the overall enchantment of the property. It's a serene oasis where you can unwind and connect with nature. One of the practical advantages of Encanto do Sol is its convenient location. The charming village and the beautiful beach are just a 10-minute stroll away. This accessibility made our daily explorations effortless, yet we were always excited to return to the comfort of Encanto do Sol at the end of the day. During our stay, we used the house as our base to explore the entire island, and it proved to be an excellent choice. Should we have the opportunity to return to Madeira, there's no doubt in our minds that we would choose Encanto do Sol again. It's a place that captures the essence of Madeira's beauty and hospitality. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that the house is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a pleasant stay. From well-appointed rooms to a fully equipped kitchen, it's a home away from home.

There isn't a simple and concise way of explaining how amazing our stay was. When we looked at the images we knew we were renting a fabulous place with a great view, but it exceeded our expectations in every way. The house is amazing, enough room, thoroughly equipped in terms of appliances and utensils, and pretty much any thing you might wish for. It was better equipped than the majority of apartments you'd rent out for normal living. The view and garden is amazing and since it's facing the sea (while being decently away from the street) you do feel like you're in your own little piece of heaven. Sitting in the deck chairs and staring into the sea, be it day or night, feels like resting in a secret space nobody knows of :) The location is great, you can get wherever you want really fast, and it's much quieter in Funchal. But if I had to pick my favorite part, it's the hosts, they're kind, open for communication and considerate, and you can see how much they care about the guests in every detail within the house. If we ever come to Madeira again, there's no doubt we'd love to come back to Encanto do Sol <3

The location of penzion is exceptional, great garden, great view to valey, very nice owner. Ponta do Sol is convenient place for trips in Madeira.

Nothing. Maybe our stay was too short. We would like to return.
