Very enthusiastic host who is extremely willing to help you plan you day. Cute cats. Great location. A little of the road so you don't hear the traffic. Pretty garden area.

We enjoyed the stay in the hotel. The location was perfect for visiting tourist spots. And there are restaurants right away when leaving the hotel, it was comfortable for us to find food. The owner of the hotel was very kind and she took care of our safety and recommended hotels to eat.We met 2 cats there,we love pets so we enjoyed the stay in the hotel very well.

Madhu and her hospitality. Location is very pleasant to stay. It's very calm. She gives perfect plan to roam in and around sigiriya. She used to give route maps. She gave us a good restaurant name(hotel pradeep) to have good food. Bcoz of her information we catched direct bus to kandy and then train to ella at the last moment.

There is nothing bad about this place.

We had a nice experience in River Retreat Sigiriya. The host was super friendly and loves animals. The room was spacious and great value for money. It is also in a very convenient location with restaurants and shops around. Also walking distance to all the attractions.

This was a happy accident. After the place I had already booked turned out not to be at the advertised location, I arbitrarily booked the nearest thing available and was led to this beautiful lush garden paradise. The location is perfect and nicely secluded from but near the main road and the room was the most spacious I have been given in Sri Lanka. On top of that Madu and her two excellent cats are wonderful company. Should I return I shall surely rebook.

Very spacious, clean, the host speaks good English and is helpful. Great location next to the Lion Rock, restaurants, markets and atm. Breakfast was very good especially the juice.

The first 2 days was good except for a frog in the toilet and some birds living in the roof and making noises. The next 2 days were a nightmare. Frog: There is a frog living in the toilet and walking on our toothbrushes. Wouldn't mind it being there if the host let us know about it when we arrived since her reply was that it just lives here. Bird probably or rats?: Some things live in the roof and are very noisy at times. It's scary feeling like it is in the room especially at night. 2 enormous cockroaches: on our 3rd night they came out from under bedsheets of the extra bed we had in the room in 2am. Couldn't sleep and eventhough i don't eat or kill animals or bugs i had to, since they were in the bed. The path: from the main road to the house is not fully paved and if you go to rainy season there will be part where it is mud and part with 5-7cm water that enters in shoes and is slippery. Bugs: many entering especially when rains because there is no window in the toilet or a covering net. Wanted to give dearest advice to the host to put a net on the bathroom window that would keep the insects out and tell the guests about the frog in advance and everything else. She didn't even let me end sentences and started insulting me by telling I am acting like a 15 years old kid, I want princess treatment and how this is Sri Lanka and it's normal to be like this?? Also, she said me that she would've been happy if we checked out the second night. We only stayed because we didn't wanted to let her down and to help her earn since she said it's bad situation now there. Other places in sri lanka for the same price didn't have any of these problems. The house is gorgeous and the yard too, with little effort would be perfect place to stay. Hope she'll understand that i just wanted to give her my friendliest feedback since I am a tourist and I know what tourists value.
