River Retreat Sigiriya

The owner is kind and helpful. She gave us recommendations of food and point of attraction. She’s also prompt in resolving issues on site. She makes very good Sri Lanka pancake if you’re up for it. Best location to visit Sigiriya - restaurants/grocer stores are within minutes away. Surrounded by the nature, the wildlife is part of the accommodation whether you like it or not - monkeys, peacocks, chipmunks, frogs, etc. I personally loved it.

Manage your expectations. Power outage is common in the area so wifi is not consistent. But there’s a cafe across the street if you need to work. Pay for air conditioning if you’re not from a tropical country. The nights are cool enough for me. Hot shower depends on the solar panels.

The location is excellent. The host is awesome. She can help you with booking an elephant safari. Amazing value for money. It has hot water too. Not burning hot but very good after climbing the lion rock! Beds are comfortable.

Too short a stay.

Location and host is very good but unfortunately I would like to say it’s pretty hot and even regular fan was not working properly and misquotes the other side worst I wouldn’t recommend it again

The owner was so nice and she really went out of her way to help us with everything. She also went with us on a safari and organised everything so nicely. She knows a lot about animals and takes such good care of them. That is why we loved doing the safari she recommended and set up for us. The stay was really tidy and she also prepared a lovely breakfast for us. The location is literally perfect, right at the main street eventhough at the stay there is a lot of silence and peace. Only a little hectic when the monkeys come, but she knows how to handle that as well :)

There is no wifi, which could be a little annoying.

We got really good and helpful informations from the very nice host..we felt like at home..the house has a perfect location..calm and in short distance restaurants, shops, interesting locations.. perfect, we recommend the house...

if you are looking a place to stay in sigiriya this is the one! was absolutely fantastic, peaceful and regenerative stay here. the owner is just amazing, she give us a lot of advice, very helpful. we was looking for a safari and guess what? she is a safari guide and we have absolutely the best experience: eco friendly, respectful and responsible for the animal. 10/10 in everything Thank you 🩷
