Meegahapokuna Resort

We were very disappointed as they were willing to cheat, to get as much money from us as possible. This was the only place (we have stayed in a number in Sri Lanka) where they left a bottle in the room and charged for it (nothing mentioned anywhere). Despite the fact that we actually used it for brushing our teeth as a small frog fell out of the bathroom tap (not sure how it got there, probably from the pond nearby). The place also had loads of flies on the terrace and at the “eating quarter” (haven’t seen nearly as many anywhere else). But worse, they blatantly cheated on the breakfast cost. We asked for two bread/toast the first day (250 SR per toast, according to menu), they charged 800 SR (instead of 500 SR) and for one fruit plate (250 SR per menu) and they charged us 800 for that plate! Later arguing that they gave us more than we asked for and since we are it we should pay! As if we know that they gave us more than one portion (which we hadn’t ordered anyway )!?! Since we had too much food the first day (and left quite a bit) we ordered less the next day, but decided to go for two plates of fruit. We were charged 1600 for two plates of mango (!!!) and 800 for the toast (we ordered one!) We were incredibly shocked as we thought that having a price list was great- but clearly they decided to completely ignore the published price! Would definitely advise avoiding and certainly not eating here. Two breakfasts cost us more than one night stay!

At first sight we had some doubts, but we were misled. This a a kind of homestay at its best. Our room was basic but comfortable. The best is the authentic and loving care of this family. They pampered us with complementary fresh juices and took as for a sunset walk to the nearby lake. A breakfast menu to choose from, all delicious and diner to order is totally yummy, not to be missed. The location is quietly located and close to all attractions and with views on a Stupa, rice fields and a lively lotus pond with lots of birds and we saw some big lizards to. 2 new luxury rooms are being build with views on the rice fields. This is such a place which pleasantly surprises you and leaves you with nice memories.

Good location and nice people. Service a bit slow but good food

The family that owns the property are incredibly friendly and thoughtful people and they really went out of their way to make us feel at home. The father offered to take us wherever we wanted to go in his tuktuk and his daughter brought us to see a huge lake near the hotel at sunset. The breakfast is very tasty and the location is beautiful. We spent a considerable amount of time just sitting by the lily pond and observing the hundreds of birds species that come to feed and bathe there every day.

This place is managed by a friendly and helpful couple. They even prepared "Osupan" to offer at the temples. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. We hope to visit again.

Very friendly services. A resort run by a family and they are improving it gradually. Hope in our next visit will see a big development. We wish them all the very best !

Very quiet at a small lake, where you can watch a lot of birds. You can order breakfast and dinner from a menu, good food!

Directly in front of my room they were building a new house, so you look straight onto this new building. The bed sheets and the blankets had stains, so I didn't use the blankets. Lack of English, difficult to communicate.
