Stunning, peaceful, location and setting. Well worth the drive up and away from the main route. Friendly welcome. Fun wine tour and tasting. Comfortable house and generous breakfast supplies.

Beautiful location and house, even better than the photos. We loved the view, the people, the wine tasting… 10 out of 10.

We stayed in casa sousão on Quinta do monte Travesso. The house itself is very private, with a short trip through an amazing vineyard and dirt road. Once you arrive, your view is just absolutely stunning. This is a perfect house for large family or 3 couples, each room has its own ensuite. The hosts of the Quinta are very friendly and accomodating, they will fill your fridge with everything you need from eggs, milk and ham and cheese. Every morning you will receive fresh bread for breakfast. They also leave a bottle of their amazing red wine on the dining table, but make sure you also try their white wines which are very easy to drink and will have you going back for a case. I can’t praise how much we loved staying here…book it and you won’t regret it!

We had the most wonderful retreat to the Douro hills at Quinta do Monte Travesso. We stayed in the 1 bedroom cottage which was close to the main vineyard buildings but still super private. The views are stunning, and the garden with a little pool, hammock, lawn and lots of seating areas was the perfect spot to lounge in the sunshine. The fridge was stocked with breakfast things and fresh bread was delivered each morning. We barely left the Quinta as it was the perfect spot to unwind. We had a wine tasting with the winemaker which was fascinating and delicious. The bed was super comfy and everything was high quality and in good condition. We’ll definitely be back.

The only tiny complaint we had was that the sofa was very uncomfortable, and the kitchen was missing some things that would have been helpful for cooking but we managed without. Honestly it wasn’t a big deal, everything else was perfect.

It was a beautiful setting in the Douro wine region. The guest house was spacious with a full kitchen. Every morning they delivered fresh baked bread. The guest house was stocked with eggs, milk, juice, cheese, cold cuts and yogurt. The grounds were well kept and you were in the middle of a winery. We had the privilege of attending a wine tasting while we were there. I also want to say a special thanks to the staff for allowing us to check in early as we arrived 3-4 hours early.
