There was a strong smell of cleaning agents in the room. It was almost suffocating. The host said he had cleaned the windows and showed me the cleaning product, but it had a different scent. We left the door open and turned the fan on high. By 9 PM, the strong, choking smell was still very present. Other guests recognized the scent, it was from an ant repellent that is heavily restricted in many countries because it’s toxic. I messaged the host, saying that it was impossible to sleep in the room. When she came, she said that she had just done some cleaning and that it was only the smell of the cleaning product. She also said her husband had already removed the ant repellent. Even though we explained that it was still impossible to sleep in that air, she didn’t do anything, just left. To be fair, it was already 10 PM. After doing a bit of searching, we ended up collecting around 25–30 ant repellent balls from under the beds. We had to crawl into the dirt and under the filthy beds to fish them out. The other guest,a chineese woman, left that same night because the room smelled so overwhelmingly toxic. I ended up sleeping closest to the open door, but I woke up the next day with a terrible headache, and I never get headaches in general. The problem isn’t that the host may not know this ant repellent is toxic. The problem is that she denied it was present in the room, didn’t offer to move us to a private room (even though she also smelled it), and simply abandoned us there. This is not hospitality, this is a “not my problem” attitude. This ant repellent, known in Indonesian as "kapur barus", slowly sublimates, it turns from solid to gas without becoming liquid. Some uses are strictly restricted due to its toxicity, in Indonesia, it is still commonly used, but it must be used in well-ventilated areas if inhaled. At this place the windows couldn't even be opened.

The accommodation is in not in a good condition in general and reflects the cheap price, the beds and mattrasses are old, the kitchen area is in bad shape, the fridge was disgusting inside, but after the host denied there is ant repellent in the room, and did not offer any option even though the smell was choking, I am sure I will never sleep there again.

Very beautiful homestay, the private rooms are in the back of the property of the super nice family with a Terrasse in the front and jungle. You can find some quiet time from noisy ubud for a very fair price. Komang and his family are very helpful and you get insights into their life’s. If you are not looking for party but having an authentic experience that’s the place to go.

Stayed in the 6 bed dorm , it’s quite private the way it’s set up!… the minute I arrived to this hostel I felt a feeling of home, so I stayed longer for one week and then came back again !!.. such an amazing family own the Homestay, you get what you pay for but the feeling in the place is amazing and it seems to attract amazing guests I made so many friends here who also loved the hostel and stayed longer
