50 CHURCH STREET - GALLE FORT

It's 2 rooms in a sprawling house with kitchen downstairs. Good for a group of 4 where you have whole property to yourself. Location inside the fort is nice - though no sea view. Nice and clean.

Staff stays periodically and never at night - so you are on your own in a old but nicely decorated heritage like property. Had to get telephone number of staff from restaurant nearby to open the door on arrival.

Central location. Quiet, and great air conditioner in room kept my stay cool. Clean rooms, good facilities for make own food.

It would be nice to be served breakfast.

The bedroom was comfortable-lovely bed linen .and towels Clean bathroom and hot shower The house was filled with great art work and traditional features .

It was noisy throughout the day/evening with crows. Bird noises woke us up very early Although there was tea/coffee making facilities there were 2parts to the kitchen.To access the bins the other kitchen area was filthy -lizard in cupboard /ants nests dead spider etc There was an unusuable cooker etc which should have been removed. We left out a wrapped cake which we found half eaten on the floor.As there was open air access to the kitchen whilst it might be novel to have birds /monkeys/ chipmunks around it’s not very hygienic. However what upset us most was that the owner had come in and filled the bottom freezer with unwrapped chicken which made the whole fridge and what we had inside smell badly . It is not clear on the website what this really is A 2 bedroomed house which if both bedrooms were occupied offered little privacy in the communal area. The owner was rather aggressive and dismissive when I said I didn’t think it was acceptable to have loose chicken in the freezer whilst we were still there . Compared to the many other places we have stayed at it was disappointing and overpriced.

We loved this property, it’s spacious and quiet, in the middle of Galle Fort and close to everything including plenty of cafes and restaurants. The furnishings and architecture design are very impressive. We were woken every morning by peacocks and birds. We never actually saw anyone over the 2 nights, we were given keys and left to ourselves! Thank you

Such a lovely stylish residence and the room was quiet and comfortable.

A peaceful, private, spacious & very tastefully decorated respite from the streets of Galle. We loved staying here - excellent location- you step out and you’re in the fort town and close to everything, but inside you’re enjoying beautifully decorated lounging space and a really nice room which was spacious, air-conditioned & immaculately clean and tidy. Great stay!

Gorgeous spacious old building with beautiful decor

A most stylish property full of ambience. It couldn’t be in a better location as it is in the heart of the Old Fort.Bedroom was spacious and bed so comfortable. So loved this place!
