W arrived late and although the kitchen was closed, the landlord & landlady organised us a meal, which was much appreciated. Very helpful and obliging

We had a lovely stay overnight at the little chalet after arriving by ferry from Dover. Sholden is just a short drive away and the Sportsman has private parking, which was perfect. The room was furnished comfortably and we slept very well. Everything was clean and fresh linen and towels as well as some toiletries and tea were provided. The adjacent pub seemed lovely and seemed to host a trivia night when we arrived, unfortunately we were just too tired from the trip to join. There are corn fields just a few minutes away, which was perfect for walking our dog in the morning.

The staff (lady owner) was very friendly and helpfull (much better than the man who dealt with us the last time we stayed here).

There was a live band in the bar that were very loud, we could hear them clearly in our room but they finished at 7pm when we went to the bar to eat - Kareoke started at 8pm and we left the bar, it continued to be very noisy in our room but the lady said that was due to a local houseparty which was out of her control - I believe much of the loud music was still coming from the bar. The price of £90 was high for room only. Access to the room was not convnient as I have mobility problems.

Great location, very friendly and next to a pub with a great atmosphere.

The noise! I had never expected to be in the pub garden on a warm evening with people and music making so much noise + karaoke (indoors). There was only one window facing the garden so I was about 2 metres from the patrons, many of whom sounded as though they had had a lot to drink. I'm not used to that sort of place, our local pub is really quiet in contrast. It was ghastly - all I wanted was a night's sleep.
