Friendly host …great location….lovely breakfast

Dairy house hits the spot! Breakfast was fantastic, the poached eggs were the best I’ve had. A short walk from the station and again into the city centre. Lots of lovely little shops locally too and a supermarket right on the corner. The owners were super nice and as alone traveller I felt very safe.

The accessibility and was a comfortable hotel

We use a disabled badge for parking, if you have to pay I can imagine it would get a bit expensive. Nearest car park is on the opposite side of the road.

The rooms were clean and spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. The location of the guest house was good and within walking distance from the city plus surrounding by bars and restaurants.

The owner was rude and made my mum and I feel unwelcome, initially he carried our cases upstairs which was lovely but after this there was no conversation or greetings from him to ask how our stay was and if we needed anything. When we checked out the card machine was shoved in my mums face with no conversation at all. The cooked breakfast was basic and the bacon was over cooked. The Greek yoghurt was in its original pot with a spoon and very little yoghurt left at the bottom of the pot which was unhygienic which was a potential risk for cross contamination. There was a cereal bowl of fruit with cling film covering it which again looked really unappetising there were a couple of grapes, tangerine pieces and banana which was brown, this was the same on both mornings.

Great location, just a 15 minute walk into the city. The room was cosy and tea/coffee facilities were lovely. The housekeeper lady who served us breakfast was friendly and helpful.

The host could have welcomed us more warmly and thanked us on leaving. It felt like he was just going through the motions and he showed no interest in us as guests. Condensation in the bathroom was leading to some growth of mould below the window. Towels were hard and overused and need replacing. The double bed was very small and the wooden board at the head caused some discomfort. Breakfast times were dictated to us by the host. On the first morning we had the last breakfast slot and the bacon and mushrooms were dried up and over cooked. The omelette breakfast on the next day was equally dry and quite tasteless. The fruit salad looked stale and uninviting. It felt like quite a bit of penny pinching on the side of the host considering the hefty price.

My room was a single room that offered all that I needed, it was a pleasant room very comfy and exceptionally clean. There was a warm welcome and my vegan needs were catered for. A great location for the centre of York and the Christmas market. Would highly recommend.

It was welcoming, clean & comfortable. The owner was there to greet us & see us to our room. There were lovely little touches like chocolates, biscuits, hot water bottles (which weren’t needed) & a magazine in our room. Very clean & a lovely breakfast provided in the morning.
