San Marcos Cultural & Guesthouse

Edna and her staff are very warm and welcoming and went out of their ways to make our stay comfortable.

The showers stayed lukewarm but that’s stem probably from just older plumbing.

Great location, very nice old, historic property. Breakfast was excellent.

This is my second time staying here. The host (Edna) and her family who run this guesthouse are so kind and welcoming. Amador kindly received us at 1 am due to our late flight. Edna and Mari made the most delicious food. We were here over Easter, and Edna kindly invited us to eat their special 12 ingredient Easter soup for dinner. Such a treat! My parents and I enjoyed chatting with her (a friend of Edna’s helped translate and was also delightful to talk with). It didn’t feel like staying at a hotel, it felt like visiting friends. The location is on a quiet and safe street and is close to all the key sights in Old Town (e.g., Independence Plaza, Central Mercado). Rooms were clean and comfortable. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts, Edna and family! We hope to return again in the future.

I arrived in the evening after a very long day of travel. I walked around for a while trying to find someone to check me in, and even walked up and down the street in case I had got the location wrong (the sign has a different name and a yoga class was underway). I then messaged the Guesthouse on Booking.com and called the listed number multiple times but I got no response. I waited for over an hour before giving up and finding somewhere else to stay since it was getting dark outside and the area doesnt seem particularly safe at night. They messaged me back over two hours later asking where I was. It was horribly stressful for me to be in an unfamiliar city at night time, where I don't speak the language and have nowhere to stay.

Beautiful property in the heart of the old town. Friendly and helpful hosts. Would definitely stay again!

Value for money, very friendly owner. Huge flat about 60m2. The kitchen with all you need. Great view right from bedroom to the city and main hill.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cultural & guest house. Very good location, quiet with comfortable bed and pillows. The room was as advertised, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really nice. The facility also offered laundry services which were great. Highly recommend!

Fantastic location and excellent breakfast. Staff very kind, though Spanish speaking only. Let us stay late in our room when our flight was delayed which was very much appreciated. Bed comfortable
