Cozy 1BR stay in Taupo Central

The location, a short drive to the center of Taupo.

The spa pool and surrounding area was grossly misrepresented on the website. The pool was not clean, the cover was broken and moldy (polystyrene was fallen out), the pool area was damp and smelly. The door to the spa did not close due to a jammed tv areal wire, so the cold wind blew into the house.

The beds were very comfortable, the shower hot and fast (best shower so far). The single heater was very efficient. The manager - Lina and her husband, did their best to accommodate us after our massive disappointment on arriving. Parking was good, the street quiet (no through traffic)

Where to begin - The ad on Booking.com, clearly shows 1 king bed and 1 full bed and the photos on the ad, tell a different story to the actual place. Pushed against the wall in the lounge room is a single bed. The entire place looks like a beach shack with mismatched, cheap furniture. There is no hanging space for clothes, no shelves to put clothing on. There are actually 2 cupboards - the one in the main bedroom is about 18 " wide - (where one would expect to hang clothing, but in one there was one clothes hanger, a vacuum cleaner and an ironing board. In the other, there are no shelves and no rod to hang clothes. The curtains in the lounge did not close because they had all come off the hooks and the lace curtain is torn. There is another door to off the lounge to the spa (in a built-on room, with walls that do not meet the floor or ceiling). This door has windows and no curtain and there was no way to stop the light from outside coming through, therefore the person in the lounge would be woken up by the morning sun. There was pet hair all over one of the armchairs. The toilet door has no outside handle (it has broken off), so you can't shut the door from the outside)TO THEIR CREDIT, Lina and her husband came out that night and sorted out a few issues for us, but overall, this should have been done before we arrived and most fixes were only temporary e.g a coverlet clamped to the door to stop light coming in. (we did take photos)

It's a lovely wee space that feels like staying at a family members house in the rumpus room. Its cosy with the vibe of being homely ________________________________ I wouldn't say I didn't like these things but these things are to be considered when staying here. There are no cooking facilities. No bbq either. And for most that's all good - while in Taupo - go out for dinner and breakfast and enjoy your holiday :) Spa on site doesn't work but also - go and enjoy the thermal spas! Because you're in Taupo afterall!

Relatively quickbooking service

Spa pool did not heat up much more than 20 degrees.

Location was great, nice quiet area. It was easy to access the. The spa was a treat. Milk and a couple ice creams were in the fridge which I thought was thoughtful. The room was clean and presentable. The host answered my queries and was quite easy to deal with. The bed was nice and comfy fresh sheets and over all clean. We had everything we needed for our 4 day 3 night stay.

The spa cover was a nightmare to get on and off, my partner has a shoulder injury and removing the cover caused a bit of pain. The cover smelt of mould and was quite old and ratty. The door from the main lounge to the spa didn’t properly close and was quite close to the edge of the spa so was a tight squeeze to get in and out of that space. Not enough towels and no sink to wash dishes and prepare meals, and doing dishes was a nightmare. You use a tub and fill with bathroom water. We had guests above us in the upstairs rooms and could hear every single sound, disrupted babies sleep and woke up throughout the night. We couldn’t find a wheelie bin to put rubbish into The dog next door was quite the barker, but wasn’t too bad where we were hugely affected.

Overall the hospitality and the accommodation was perfect...I'd love to stay again. Highly reccommend

What breakfast????

Steps too dark. Bedroom cupboard too small. No worktop space above fridge. Shower rose hopelessly loose. Lounge curtains come off rail. Never been charged extra for a pet in a pet friendly sleepover - rip off.

Location and spa

No kitchen, no facilities to wash dishes, or prepare food. Spa was old and full of debris from broken cover, not enough water in the spa either. Walls not sound proof could hear kids and people on the other side of the door, it felt like they were in our room at 6am. Towels were old and frayed. Shower was unpleasant the shower head would not stay in place. Curtains were not fully functional.
