Glen Garth Guest House

This is one of the loveliest B&B’s we have ever stayed in! I booked our stay through booking.com and couldn’t access my messages on my account, I went on to the owners personal website where I found a phone number to contact the owners Hayley and John. Right from the first message I knew we were going to enjoy our stay here, the responses were so warm and friendly. I had noted on the booking that we were staying for my partners 40th birthday and instantly the room I had booked was upgraded which was so kind. We also booked parking. We arrived at the guest house at around 5:30pm on the Friday evening and were instantly met by Hayley who welcomed us with a big smile and showed us where to park. Check in was easy and Hayley was full of knowledge of the local areas and advised us where to go and what to do. We had initially booked a restaurant in the city centre but changed our mind and booked the local Italian (Made in Italy) after reading Hayley and Johns recommendations on the Glen Garth website. We did not regret our decision the food was beautiful and reasonably priced (£51 for two meals and four alcoholic drinks) the atmosphere in the restaurant was lively which was great for us but if you were looking for a more quiet intimate experience I’d suggest trying one of the many other restaurants on the road. We booked breakfast for 8:30am the following morning and when we entered the dining room we were again met by Hayley who showed us where everything was to help ourself (toast, cereal, fruit, yoghurts and drinks) there was a vast selection available. After a few minutes our hot food order was taken, two breakfasts came out promptly and were absolutely delicious. Thank you John! Hayley and John were friendly and chatted to us throughout breakfast nothing was too much trouble. We went and got ready in our room which was beautiful, and had everything we needed from tea and coffee to an iron and ironing board! The room was spotless and beds so comfy. I do recommend having a flick through the book which is there with all the information you need for the hotel wifi etc and all the local bus times. It also has a page with the history of how the Glen Garth became a b&b and how Hayley and John come to run it was a lovely little read and nice to know the family history. We went off to the races for the day, we opted to jump on a bus to town so we could have a quick drink and then walked up to the Racecourse. The bus stop is right outside the front door and cost £6 for both of us. This could easily have been walked in 25-30mins which we originally planned to do but ran late as we made the mistake of sitting down in the room and getting too comfortable to move! After a great day at the Races we again walked into the city centre had a few drinks and got a taxi back to the guest house which again cost £6 which is more than reasonable. We had a few drinks that evening and knew we wouldn’t be up for breakfast so I popped a quick text to Hayley and John to let them know and again the response was fast and friendly (sorry John we would have loved another one of you’re lovely breakfasts but the lie in won after a few to many beers haha) Check out the next morning was at 10:30am and was again a pleasant process. We bumped into Hayley and John on the landing and again spent more time talking like we had known them for years not days. Glen Garth is like home from home, one of the best experiences we have had staying in a guest house. We are planning another few race days and I really hope we can stay here again. We enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere . Hayley and John are amazing they go out of there way to help . The room was clean and comfortable . We found it easy to get around as well station just a few minute walk away . So highly recommend Glen Garth for travelers . Lina From Australia

Hayley and John are awesome! Glen Garth is such a sweet place. Right from the get go, after our booking online, we received a personal email from Hayley and John. It didn't stop there, they were great at communicating with us. We'd come in to travel to Liverpool for the trophy parade and we were able to park our car at the guest house a few hours before our check in. The room was warm, inviting, clean and cosy. There were a few other guests but we didn't notice and it felt like we were their personal guests. We received a lovely, warm welcome when we came down for breakfast and the breakfast was very tasty and there was plenty to eat - the cooked breakfast being personally prepared by John. The guest house is close to the city centre too being about a 10mins walk from the train station. We couldn't have had a more lovely experience. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a lovely, personal and warm stay.

Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of fresh foods. Our room was very quiet . Room was spotlessly clean. I would recommend this guest house to anyone looking for a place to stay in Chester.
