We really can’t say enough good things about this accommodation! First of all, the location was amazing. It was located directly across the street from Mercado dos Lavradores, a wonderful market where the locals come to sell their produce on Fridays and Saturdays. This location has a constant feel of energy to it. It’s not a quiet place but the noise wasn’t troubling for us. We were able to walk everywhere. Everything we needed was close by including a huge variety of snack bars and restaurants, especially on the historic Rua Santa Maria. Also, immediately next door to our entrance was A Bica Restaurante where we found great food at affordable prices. We were also very close to the waterfront, the downtown shops, Pingo Doce grocery store and access to buses. It was also just a short walk to get to meeting points for island tours. We loved just going out and exploring the area on foot. History was everywhere around us. We felt completely safe in this area, even at night. The room itself was spotlessly clean and modern with absolutely everything we needed for our stay of almost three weeks. All of the appliances worked perfectly. We were so grateful to have a washing machine and used it several times. A drying rack could be set up on the balcony and our clothes dried within 2-3 hours. Our host, José was wonderful. He was very friendly and pleasant, always with a ready smile. He was more than happy to help us with whatever we needed and a ready source of information for us. Thank you so much, José!

The only drawback to this property is that there are 44 stairs to climb from street level entry to the second floor where we were staying. We looked on the stairs as a fitness challenge but for someone with reduced mobility, this would be a problem.

Fantastisk beliggenhed lige overfor markedet og dør om dør med en fantastisk restaurant. Mange gode caféer. Dejlig balkon. Pænt og rent I supermarkedet tæt på er der et kæmpestort tagselvbord billigt. Busstationen ligger tæt på.

Der var dobbeltdyne. Det er vi ikke til. Et lille ønske kunne være en ny pande og en brødrister.

The host welcomed me warmly and explained everything thoroughly. The location is excellent if you want a city stay — you are right in the middle of everything. There is a market across the street, and from the balcony you can see most of it. The apartment is small but quite compact and well laid out.

There wasn’t anything I specifically disliked. The bathroom fan and the kitchen extractor fan were quite noisy, and the TV antenna cable needed some adjusting 🙂 As a suggestion, it would be nice to add a small shelf unit and a couple of coat hooks on the hallway wall under the air conditioner, place to put your small things and closes. If you like sleeping in, keep in mind that the market starts getting active early (around 06:00–07:00), which might not suit everyone.

Too compact. Although there were good cooking facilities there was scarcely room to prepare even a sandwich .

If you like to stay right in the centre of Funchal you might want to stay here. Located right next to Farmers Market you will be inthe first row to follow the life from your balcony. By choosing to live in the centre you must expect city noises, personally I did not have a problem with it. There are 3 studios in this building, I was in 2nd floor, the building does not have an elevator, so you are in for some cardio. The small studio has a comfy bed (mattress toppers would be lovely), tv, aircon and a lovely small balcony with chairs. There is a kitchinette incl. a microwawe, fridge and utentils. A washer is also available. (toaster would be appreciated) Nice size bathroom with plenty of hot water. Nice strong wifi. Upon arrival you will be met by the lovely host José who will tell you the basics. He is also very quick to reply if you need some help during your stay. I did enjoy my stay here and would love to stay again.
