The Bird Hide - rustic luxury by the water

At first I was worried about stepping outside during the night. I thought it would be cold and inconvenient. But the night sky was absolutely beautiful. A great location

This place was absolutely dreamy! My partner and I adored staying at the bird hide. The room was cozy and perfect, we had a great time bird watching, and the stars were gorgeous at night. The breakfast was very generous too! We stayed for 2 nights and we are so glad that we took the time to slow down and unwind at the bird hide! Honestly we couldn't possibly recommend this place more.

Beautiful location with fantastic views. Great walks through the lagoon and out to Waikouaiti beach, and easily walkable to the shops in Waikouati itself. Very convenient access to State Highway 1, easy drive to and from Dunedin when needed. Comfortable and cosy.

Occasionally found the automated light coming on after dark would shine in past the curtains and light up the room, but otherwise a perfect stay.

It was a lovely experience with a beautiful room and the dorm was extremely cozy!

De badkamer in een ander gebouw, zeker lastig in de nacht voor het toilet, je moet dan buitenom, het ontbijt is erg karig, werd ook niet aangevuld na de 1e nacht, we verbleven er twee

The location was superb and bed was comfortable. Enjoyed the breakfast a nice place to reflect and enjoy the birdlife.

No TV but had wifi so not too much of an issue

The location was great. We appreciated being situated right on the edge of the lagoon. The room was very clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and the little fireplace kept the room very warm. The continental breakfast was delicious.
