Namal Stay

Namal Stay is a family owned guest house on top of a hill 20 minutes walk to Weligama beach. The room are cozy and clean, the location is nice as you can see Weligama from the top and the hosts were so nice! Highly recommend it!

Wonderful place! Enjoyed staying there a lot. Feels like family. Namal is very helpful and lovely person. Beautiful view from the restaurant upstairs. Lots of space to hang out of the room. Good Wi-Fi. Quite area. Around 10 min walk to the beach. Other guests there are just absolutely amazing! Very special atmosphere.

Relaxed home-stay atmosphere at Namal's place with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Sudu's cooking was delicious, we had breakfast and dinner here - some of the best curry we have tried during our time in Sri Lanka! Great views across Weligama from the upper level restaurant and rooftop terrace. Free chilled drinking water too. Namal made us feel very welcome in his home, like part of the family. Namal is a welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful host who will make you feel very at home and comfortable. His wife Sudu cooks delicious local food, which absolutely must be tried! The rooftop terrace is a great place to sit and work, with good WiFi and nice sunset/sunrise views over the bay. The location is quiet, away from the main strip and busy road, but still only a short tuk-tuk ride or 15-minute walk from the beach. Would definitely recommend.

Namal's was one of the best guesthouses we've stayed in in Sri Lanka. Very comfortable stay, private, quiet, and the most incredible rooftop overlooking Weligama. It was so rewarding to watch the sunrises and sunsets from here. And Namal has to be the kindest and most welcoming host! He really takes care of his place and the people that pass through. We will definitely be returning on our next trip! Also, bonus points for a water filter open to everyone to use- more places should do this to reduce plastic water bottle waste!

That guesthouse is placed on the beautiful hill, and on the rooftop you can see almost every thing on the landscape. There is a water filter, that allows you to refill your own bottles. Well, I can't describe all the facilities because there are a lot of them. But that is nothing in comparison with owner. Namal is a Man with big letter, he helped me to sort out several severe problems that I created during my holiday in Weligama. He is ready to answer any your question, transport you to any place on his own tuktuk and he provides various breakfasts and dinners as paid option. Honestly, you will not find better meals for that price anywhere. Space near the room entrance is sooo chilling, that was really nice.

There were more tenants than I expected to meet. Most of them work distantly and during the duty they occupy the rooftop so I felt inappropriate to share that space with workers while I was enjoying a vacation although I wanted to spend there much more time. There was no a/c in a room. I found it quite far from activities in Weligama.

For a stay in Weligama you should definitely choose “Namal Stay” for its location on a hill overlooking the jungle and the bay. Also the owner Namal and his family are very very nice people and the house is really beautiful. I would recommend renting a scooter in weligama so you can visit the beaches and restaurants in the surrounding.

So I don’t know where to start. we stayed 8 nights with Namal and his family and it was the best time we had in Sri Lanka. Namal and his wife Suduu treated us like family and served one of the best Sri Lankan curry’s we had. On our last day with Namal he went with us to the local fisher market and we had an awesome fish and seafood dinner in the evening. On our arrival day Namal drove us with his tuk tuk free of charge to the beach and explained us a little bit about Weligama. With Namal it feels like it’s home in another country. in the evening he sat with his guests we enjoyed together the evening hours. He is also trying to integrate new guests into the group of guests that are already there. The building has a very nice rooftop with an open kitchen and sitting opportunities where you can watch the sunset and see above whole Weligama up to the see and Mirissa. All in all it was a very special experience and I would not hesitate to go back to Namal’s stay as we felt like his family. It was a 10/10 experience and if you are looking for a place to stay and the accommodation is still free do not hesitate and book it right away!!!
