Guesthouse Mintaro Hut

Dinner was delicious and the staff was so kind. Really went above and beyond. Such a cozy atmosphere, I wished I stayed more than 1 night.

I loved my stay at Mintaro Hut. Sato-san is a great host! This guesthouse is definitely a great experience for anyone who wants a chill and family-like stay during their trip. Home cooked meals for dinner, all facilities are very clean and my room was very comfortable. The location is right next to Kajo Park and also near the train station (15 min walk). Great location for anyone who wants to explore Yamadera (15 min away by train).

The host is so nice. He drove me to the station without even asking for it. dinner time is the best, traditional japanese dinner to be joined with a donation. All super tasty, and with nice conversations.

Very friendly owner and staff, great atmosphere and wonderful dinner. One of the best place in my 28 weeks Japan traveling experience.

Somehow, Guesthouse Mintaro Hut was the highlight of my trip in the Yamagata Prefecture. Guests could join for their daily dinner by paying a small donation. The dinner felt like it will never end as the owners will keep on cooking more and more food throughout the night. Sake was also offered non-stop and it was delicious. I had a lot of fun spending time with them during dinner. All in all, the hospitality of this guesthouse was superb, the best I ever experienced in Japan. Staying here felt more like a homestay, and I will definitely come back here someday!

This the best guest house I have ever been to!! The owner and the staff are great! They make you feel at home! They all go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. What's more, they prepare a delicious dinner every night! Which creates a familiar atmosphere with all the guests and the staff! This stay was the highlight of my trip. Plus, the house is super comfy, toilets and bedrooms are sparkling clean. And They provide everything for you to prepare your breakfast! Location is perfect too, next to the Kajo park where you the Sakura blooming and its splendor!

Truly a gem, if you don’t know where to stay in the region and wants a nice cosy and affordable guest house, this is the place. Besides, breakfast and dinner are included. It’s clean, people are really nice.

- Position is perfect, just next to the Kajo park, particularly fit for Sakura visit - The owner and staffs are very nice - Got some precious information about the Sakura - Free food, sauce, pot and tableware, all-you-can-use to cook your own breakfast - it is like a regular Japanese house - The dinner, cooked by the owner, is decent, with self-decided donation (i.e. pay any amount you want)

- The soundproof can be better. You can hear other guests/staffs talking clearly in the room, with the door shut. - the washing machine is bad, I personally recommend to find a coin laundry

The staff were really nice and welcoming. They orientate you with the place before bringing you to the room. they even invite you for dinner tgt. i didn’t join as i wanted to eat something else but its a nice gesture. you just need to make sure you donate for dinner if you are joining. breakfast is provided, and you can cook your own. there are eggs, orange juice, milk, coffee, soup and spices you can amp it up. also may i say, they are 4 mins walk away from kajo park. during spring this is such an enjoyment!! great experience!

Travel many yrs and this is my first time extremely want to leave a comment on booking, and this’s my first comment too. I can’t say all facilities are the best, but the people here, definitely the best. One people, one story, here’s full of story.
