Breakfast was exceptional, exceeded my expectations! I love it, also a good bed and mattress.

Not a lot.

Upon arrival there was no one there to greet us. The hotel was completley empty. After a search we found a piece of paper telling us our room number and the fact that the lodge was not staffed all the time. This gave us an unpleasant feeling, a souless lodge devoid of any staff. When booking we were not made aware that staff would not be there, had i known I would not have booked. So no evening meal available. We had to travel to Hay on Wye for an evening meal. When coming back it was an eerie feeling that no one was there and that the front door would be unlocked through the night. Safety was our principal concern. The following morning there was a hostess who was very pleasant but informed us that the chef was not coming in and that there would be no real breakfast. The hostess said that she could pop down to a local garage to bring a breakfast roll. No milk in for cereal either until she returned from the garage. I am really sorry to give this poor review as the lodge it self is historic. Having booked months in advance some sort of communication about the situation could have helped.

The only feedback I have is regarding the breakfast window. Breakfast is served from 8am–9am, and while we completely understand this may suit many guests, we were hoping to enjoy a bit of a lie-in during our stay. Given the fantastic reviews of the breakfast, it would have been lovely to experience it without having to rush. It might be worth considering extending the serving time to 10am, particularly for guests attending events or those looking to enjoy a slower, more relaxed morning. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay.

This place is lovely. It’s so well located about 10 minutes from Hay and is surrounded by green. Rooms are a nice size and well set out with good amenities.

There was nothing we didn’t like per se but mind out as we got there and they didn’t have our booking. They were great and found us a room, but the Booking hadn’t fully pulled through. It was a stressful few minutes.

There was no wardrobe or place to hang clothes, very disappointing. Also Wi-fi not available first night as we were wrong password.The drawers

Great location ideal for Hay Festival. Lovely staff and delicious breakfast.

It was a lovely place & the room was nice. But NO communication with staff made it not work so well.

First problem was our check-in instructions were incorrect. So we ran around to 3 different buildings trying to find our room. It was blazing hot that afternoon. Record heat wave! Then no AC or fan in the room and no response when I tried to request a fan. I understand no AC. But No person ever responded to me about a fan.
