Sun Wind Beach Kite Resort is a place with an incredibly positive vibe. Spending a few weeks with Susantha's family is an experience in itself. Delicious homemade dinners prepared by his mom, a always-smiling dad, and Susantha with his unique outlook on life. More importantly, when it comes to learning how to kite surf, I couldn't have found a better place. Susantha is a passionate person dedicated to ensuring his team teaches you how to ride a kite and have fun doing it. They wouldn't let me give up when I was feeling overwhelmed, and eventually, I started riding the board with the kite. Huge thanks to the entire team: Susantha, Chamindha, Denniske and other friends for great adventure and helping me fulfill my dream😊😊

Living with Susantha and his family at Sun Wind Beach Kite Resort and Kite School Kalpitiya is an experience in itself... Susantha is determined to give his guests a genuine Sri Lankan family atmosphere, where his mom cooks for all of us and we all live a wonderful life together in a coconut plantation, without luxury in nature. If you add to all this the great kitesurfing field of Kalpitiya, along with what Susantha has to offer and its cousins to those who learn to kitesurf then we are talking about an incredible paradise. I am an intermediate kiter, so I needed lessons. However, what I saw is his students succeeding from zero to hero within 4 days. As for experienced kiters. Don't expect green water but expect steady winds from both flat water and open ocean chop with big waves. As for the cons? Yes, there are those too. The wider area is marshy. Therefore mosquitoes attack in bursts. Otherwise everything is good... Genuine Sri Lankan atmosphere untouched by tourism. Family environment and excellent conditions for learning kitesurfing. Don't distance yourself. I personally left there on 15-02-2025 and I am already dreaming of my return on 18-05-2025. Susantha I can't wait!

Super great vibes and had a blast staying there! It was def the funnest places we’ve stayed on our trip! Everyone was really nice and welcoming, and the cabanas were lovely.

Awesome location if there’s wind, a bit far from town if there’s no wind. Town is a short walk for swimming in the sea.

The family style dinner options are really good. The food is super tasty, and local. The host, Susanta, is very welcoming and has interesting stories. The day trips for kitesurfing are really good, and one of a kind. The Harlem rental equipment is the top of the line. It doesn't get better than this.

The pictures on the booking.com are not up to date. The rooms have been divided in two, so now there's a single bed in a small, private room. Personally, I would have preferred to have the option to choose between a smaller single room, or a bigger room that I have to share.
