Sun Wind Beach Kalpitiya Kite Resort

We had a fantastic time at Susantha’s authentic Sri Lankan family stay. From the first second we felt to be part of the family and everyone cared about the guests’ well being at all times. We slept in one of the Cabanas which is basic and has everything you need (most importantly a secure moskito net) and enjoyed the hammock with the view into the beautifully planted garden. We made many friends along the way, learned much about the country Sri Lanka and really enjoyed our evening activities and conversations with Susantha and the group. Thank you for the Amazing times - We will definitely come back!

Value for money is great

A real community feel with like-minded people. The food and the hosts are incredible. You really feel at home. I will be coming back as soon as physically possible!

I could have never imagined such a wonderful place for my stay in Sri Lanka. Arrived at Susantha's place to learn kitesurfing for one week and then I was supposed to travel another 3. I canceled all my plans and stayed at Sun Wind Beach. Kitesurfing. It FELT LIKE HOME, but a sort of special home where you get really immersed in the Sri Lankan way of living, being, leaving all worries apart. From wonderful company always, with exchanges that make you grow, to meeting people that are drifted by similar curiosities, and then enjoying your beach hut in a green tropical garden, hidden by palm trees and refreshed by the wind, waiting for another cooking masterpiece of Susantha's mother, be it breakfast or dinner or lunch. Whether you are SOLO TRAVELING or IN COUPLE, I could not think of a better place to experience the AUTHENTIC Sri Lankan way of living or meeting people that will inspire you, become your friends. It is also the only place in Kalpitiya that is FULLY BUILT and RUN by LOCAL KITESURFERS. Just listen to Susantha's story of how he discovered kiteboarding, of how his life changed when opening this resort, of all the (extended) family-work that made this place possible (such as his grand mother braiding the palm tree leaves that are now the rooftops of the beach huts) One more thing to share, the KITESURFING LESSONS. I am not a sports person, but Susantha and his team were not only able to teach me how to do it, but also to make me ENJOY IT in such a way that I DREAM OF KITES AND DOWNWINDERS. So patients, so eager to make all their students succeed. When something went wrong with kite control (which happens a lot at first), it was a reason to laugh about and try again. Persevere until the end, that's the mindset they transmit. And they stay with you, teaching you, rescuing you, until you become independent. During my stay, I also met some of his ex-students, so happy to be back in this special place, still so connected to Susantha and his team.

Loved everything in this place. If you want to experience something REAL, something that makes you add SRI LANKA on your most intimate places, I could not recommend something else. Anyway, I felt like no longer searching for another traveling/discovery experience soon after I arrived. And all I wait for... is coming back for one more SIP OF PARADISE.

Cosy and quiet cabin by the lagoon in a beautiful garden! I went windsurfing as it was off-season and not enough wind for kiting and really enjoyed it. Very helpful and nice host!

It's a very friendly environment for kitesurfers. Food is very good, the atmosphere excellent. It's a real center of kitesurfing in the Kalpitiya lagoon.

The stay was too short.

This is exceptional place to visit if you want to learn/progress with kitesurfing or find new friends. The location which is few minutes (boat trip) away from the kite spot are perfect and quite. The Atmosphere in resort is very friendly and polite. The team and family make your stay comfortable. They take care of everything.

Home-made delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly approach! All of that made me feel like part of the family! Hands down for one of the best travelling experiences! Thank you again!
