Clean. Tastefully decorated - lots of lovely art. Very spacious for two. Much easier to find than others implied - Google maps was perfectly accurate. Not too far from Rusutsu for skiing or Lake toya. The lake view was decent as well, though we weren’t lucky enough to see the lake’s full glory due to the weather. The guest room is on the second floor; breakfast is served in the dining area on the first floor. There’s also a small elevator for moving luggage upstairs. Overall, hardware-wise it is hard to fault this place, especially at this price. What made us love this place more was the host lady. I think she embodies a lot of the things we enjoy in staying at a ryokan-type place - humble, loving, well-educated, and on top of all that, very knowledgeable about Japanese music and art. However, on lots of dimensions, she’s a standout and a personality we wish we had more time to connect with. We felt very fortunate to have booked this place. We would definitely come back next time we’re in the area.

A bit too far & rather dark at night

The room and space was huge. The backyard is also usable if you would like to have a bbq there. Due to the location, if the sky is clear, stars are abundant. The host was also a really nice lady, she cooked a simple veggie dish to go with our convenience store microwave dinner. Breakfast was also a fantastic spread

The location is super out of the way, with no street lights and on an unpaved dirt road. The signage to the location also seems non-existent. It can be challenging to find the location at night. Do try to reach there before the sun sets so you can have an easier time finding the location

Very cozy and well equipped, with a great view of the lake. The host was super accommodating and patient, and cooked great breakfast.

The owner is a sweet lady who can cook very well. Sweet lady who brought us small snacks/ cooked food. She does her best with all her heart in providing us the most comfortable stay. The 2nd level (living space) is spacious and clean with amazing view.

I liked the Western-style simple breakfast. Although it is a little far from the tourist attraction near Toya Lake, it was good for me because it was a schedule to move north of Toya Lake.
