"Our stays were wonderful as Johann is a great host🌟"

We always love staying with Johann at his Purple House as it’s a very good halfway stop between Joburg and East London. We so enjoy the quirkiness of the place, amazingly creative decor, comfortable beds with top quality linen. Johann is a great cook and made us wonderful dinners and breakfasts. We are also very grateful that we could bring our 2 Belgian Malinois Shepherds with us who were very well behaved & happy. Johann is a wonderful host.

"Great road trip stay over!"

The rooms are spacious and had everything we needed. Johann was a perfect host and did a great dinner braai for us. He has a great sense of humour and some great stories! 🤣 It's a perfect location for a stop on the way of your journey. I can easily recommend you stay at Purple House.

It was quirky and eccentric. Very comfortable bed. Food on site can be pre arranged. I would recommend that rather than eating in town.

"Interesting place, great value"

Owner is fun, interesting and engaging. His son was taking over and he cooked an amazing dinner for us. Stayed in a converted water storage tank. For what you pay, brilliant.

Not staying at the Ritz of course. Bathroom is fine but basic.
