Otherwise great stay, very helpful, friendly owner, great location, very central, host can help with bicycle rent too. Cheeky monkeys :)

- the sadest breakfast we had in 3 month Sri Lanka - also dinner we can't recommend, wasn't tasty and too pricey, unfortunately - moldy walls - the dogs are on a very short leash whole day

People! You must be sure not to miss this place! Thilan and his family are fantastic people! Thilan is a humble man who wants to make your stay the best it can be! He gave us some tips on how to best explore the old town - no one else can tell you that! We had some nice conversations and got a lot of cool life advice, interesting facts about animals, stars and religion! The food his wife cooked was very good and we learned new flavors of Sri Lanka ;) The room is clean, the air conditioning is great, hot water! Everything you need!

If you are looking for an authentic experience in Anuradhapura, Punkalasa is the place. Thimel, the owner, and his family are so kind and welcoming, always worried about providing the best stay you can have. The lodge is located inside the Ancient Town and Thimel was a good guide to show me the best sacred places around and their culture.The breakfast and dinner were also so good. I was happy to share these moments with a local Singhalese family. I do recommend staying here. I arrived as a guest and left as a friend. I will miss them.

Amazing host! Very nice dinner, made me feel like being at home but thousands of kilometres away. The next day he took some time and drove me around the ancient city and explaining everything. Without any fee for the ancient city ! Hope to see you again Thilan.
