Casa Del Porto

We had the GREEN Suite. Very clean, spacious, nicely appointed apartment. Large patio looking out on the beautiful harbor with colorful buildings filled with restaurants and shops and bustling with people. Thick, solid sound-proof patio doors. At night, when the music was pumping below, the patio doors kept out practically all sound. Amazing. What outside sound remained was then covered up by our portable white noise machine. Opening up in the morning to look out on an awakening Chania harbor was also a treat! Very central, convenient location right in the middle of everything - perfect! The Mexican restaurant just below the apartment was terrific. Didn't expect to have Mexican in Crete and we were treated to an excellent meal! Constantina, and her staff were the BEST!

Parking. There is not enough parking in the downtown Chania area. 15 minute walk from parking to the Casa and when first checking in with luggage, a bit of a pain.

Location was excellent. It’s was very clean. Staff were very friendly and informative.

Konstantina is an excellent host and made us feel extremely welcome. I can't fault the accommodation - super-clean and lovely in every way. The location, right on the old harbour, is very much in the heart of things and is sort of magical. Best views ever from the windows. It felt very romantic and made for a wonderful, memorable holiday.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in a sea view room, Green Suite. We were amazed by many things:  1) The view! There's something magical about sitting above the harbor, watching the action below and feeling part of the Chania energy whether day or night.* We're right atop two restaurants, overlooking others and a sunset view beyond the open harbor, and it's all walkable. That balcony was a favorite spot through all our travels.  2) Very accommodating host. Konstantina helped arrange a private taxi pickup from the airport. We had landed late at night and this was one less thing we had to worry about arriving in a foreign country. She also helped print our bus ticket for departure day as station said mobile tickets were not accepted. This all made for a seamless travel to/from the hotel.   3) The exquisite attention to detail in the rooms. Modern aesthetics, soft color themes, nice shower, details like utensils, espresso, wine opener, soap and towel for the kitchenette - this all makes for a very easy and comfortable in-room guest experience.  *Outside noise was not a concern. This is located in/above the action and places are open until late at night beyond our bedtime. The rooms seemed to have good sound-proofing, plus add the sound of the AC or a fan app, sleep wasn't disrupted at all.

A couple minor learnings for your stay there: 1) Wifi got weak or lost toward edge of the lovely balcony, so may need to stay close to the door to maintain good connection if using your phone.  2) The room door doesn't auto lock, so you need to lock it manually once you're inside. Since the key is attached to the fob that controls electricity, this was tricky at night. Have a flashlight app handy on your phone.  Again these are minor and did not impact our experience or recommendation to stay at Casa del Porto. Would 100% recommend this to our family and friends!
