Great location

Unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience - we were a group of four across two rooms: Overall I thought there was generally poor property maintenance, and despite being described as a “boutique hotel” online, when mentioning these issues to the owner on WhatsApp, we were met with “Lower your expectations, we’re more of an airbnb”. Here’s a list of the negatives experienced (mostly very forgivable in isolation but stacked up, not good). Property maintenance: The lights didn’t work properly in one room, air con in the other room old and temperamental, tap in one of the bathroom sinks didn’t work at all, no shower gel refilled in the bathroom (both rooms empty), very dirty plunge pool - had not been filtered/chlorinated in weeks so unusable, only hand towels provided in one room and the other none. Service: had to wait over 24hrs for towels because the cleaner only worked 11-4 and we went in then, despite leaving a sign on our door to indicate we wanted service that day. The bins in the bathroom were only emptied once (and that was because we asked) in a five day stay, which I a country where toilet paper is not flushable was very unhygienic. We also unfortunately experienced power cuts (not unusual and experienced but the whole town when the servers come under strain from tourism) BUT we found out the hard way that this ‘hotel’ water worked off an electric pump.. would have been good to know that before waking up to use the toilet and was not mentioned in the helpful guest rules/info left in the rooms.

I loved the location. 5 minute walk to the beach every morning. And the upstairs terrace sunsets made me feel like a king.

We stayed 3 days in Casa Monika and we had only 1 day hot water (the second day), after asking help to the staff. The day after again without hot water.

Rooftop suite was an absolute dream!! Love love love! Open air with fans in this suite and I loved it. Bed was so comfy with a mosquito net surrounding it. The doors to the balcony open all the way and it’s gorgeous! Monika is the best!! Thank you for having me! I’ll be back asap!

The property is amazing, walking distance from all the restaurants. Monica super helpful and gave great advices for trips and taxi. I like the vibe in the place! Also great Terrance with a view overlooking the sea . Monica was super responsive and also helped to get back something that I forgot at the property! Thank you

If there is a place in the world I would recommend, it’s Casa Monika! She is such a good person and her place is perfect. Every year I come to Puerto Bit im the future I know where my home is. Monika stay as you are! You are lovely, your place is lovely and you are the best host. Thank you for having me🫶

Good size rooms with nice decor and good AC and Wi-Fi.

Ultimately was disappointed by our stay here - this was one of the most expensive places we stayed, described as a ‘boutique hotel’ and we selected somewhere with a pool for a few nights as a treat, we were very excited for this at the end of our holiday. Unfortunately the pool was not in service for the duration of our stay - we asked Monika about it but she essentially just said ‘these things happen in small towns’ and did not offer any partial refund or compensation. It is not possible to swim at Zicatela beach due to the rough waters so we were very much paying for the pool to relax at when not surfing. We would have been better off saving our money and staying at a cheaper hostel without a pool, or spending the same amount to stay at a proper hotel with working facilities. Hot water was fairly random - sometimes there sometimes not. Translucent blinds for some reason so the light wakes you up. When selecting the room on booking.com it advertised that the price included airport transfers, however when we tried to book this Monika said they had changed their system and we needed to pay for this ourselves. These things would all be forgivable/expectable at a cheaper hostel - but not what you expect for this price tag! Would love to be contacted regarding some partial refund.
