"Not quite up to expectation."

3.0

The location was good, with an elevated position overlooking Morecambe bay. Extensive mature gardens. Nice curtain fabric...

Parts of the property were very damp, to the point that we couldn't use one of the rooms. The lounge was like a museum and smelt of stale tobacco smoke. The showers were not functioning correctly - one only ran cold water., the other couldn't be cooled. Many of the light fittings were also not functioning or the bulbs were broken. All the crockery had to be washed before use due to the overpowering smell of damp, but very nice crockery. This sounds very scathing, but the stables is not beyond redemption. With a lot of love and effort, this could be a great property.

"Could be a fantastic place to stay, but…."

7.0

The location has fantastic views Outwardly stunning property Ten minute walk down into the town

Nightmare to find No information booklet - had to contact owner for advice on WIFI etc Downstairs bedroom uninhabitable due to awful smell of damp (flooded several times apparently) Patio outside needs clearing and jet washing Strange odds and sods in kitchen drawers Dirty oven gloves Oven needs a good clean No cleaning products left to tackle the house with No salt and pepper No fire lighters - had to tear up our newspaper Furniture in living room is old. Bureau and wooden storage box full of dead spiders Cobwebs everywhere Filthy windows Rear bedroom full of cobwebs and spiders. Shower not draining, grout dirty and lower jets are blocked Pillows were old and smelled of dirty hair - no pillow protectors Only one bedside table Duvet didn’t fit the quilt cover Broken door handle Owner contacted and he tried to blame it on previous guests leaving late, however most of the dirt and cobwebs had definitely been there quite a while. We would’ve been happy to wait longer for a clean house. Resident dog who walked into house, looked very ill, half its fur missing.

"Needs updating!"

6.0

The location is great, the view from the garden is lovely to look out over on. The beds were very comfortable to sleep on. Kitchen had a lot of plates and cups etc.

Disappointed with a few things really: Cobwebs in shower Broke bits in the kitchen Microwave from front stuck on with Blu tac Didn’t say anywhere on the spec that the living room is on the 1st floor, my elderly mum really struggled with the stairs, we booked this property as it had a down stairs bedroom for ease. The Downstairs bedroom stank…. It was very musky and smelt like damp. No robes in the bedrooms as shown on pictures Quilt on king size bed was not king size

"Beautiful property in a picturesque part of Ulverston with really friendly hosts."

9.0

The property was lovely, 3 bedroom all with onsuite which suited our family of 5. The views from the property are beautiful. It is a very peaceful and quiet part of Ulverston. The host were really friendly and helpful. Clean throughout and everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Thank you.

Whilst the property is old and has lots of old furniture some of the furniture has a really musky smell. However, with that being said the older vintage furniture does really make the property what it is. Some of the appliances could really do with updating, hair dryer, TV in living room, karaoke has no Mic. Really trivial issues that wouldn't stop us returning.

"Lovely quiet, historic location, everything you need"

9.0

Lots of character, loved that it felt like a home rather than just a holiday home/cottage. Only a 10 min walk into the centre.

"Excellent cottage with en-suite bedrooms and spacious communal spaces"

9.0

Really nice large living room with a smart TV. Each bedroom is en-suite with a rain shower. Nice comfortable beds. Excellent location. Short walk into town. A nice walk up to the lighthouse memorial right from the gates of the property. Dog friendly. Parking on site. The cottage was more spacious than expected from the photos. I liked the decor of the bedroom with the dark coloured bathroom the best, it felt more modern which is a personal choice.

The shower didn’t seem to run cold, the coldest was luke warm the pressure of the side jets isn’t very strong but, it wasn’t much of a problem. There didn’t seem to be an extractor fan in the bathroom of the bedroom with the pink carpet on the upper floor so the room got a bit steamed up after a shower. The property was listed as hypo allergenic but had down duvets, some pillows and some cushions on the couches. Unfortunately some of us are allergic to down so we had to move some of these out of the way for our stay - it would be helpful to update the listing so people are aware before they stay but, it wouldn’t stop us returning.
