Great Lilly Cottage

Great Lilly Cottage is an attractively quirky and spacious two bedroom conversion on three floors, comfortably furnished, (particularly the double bed), and the kitchen is sufficiently well equipped for most needs. Externally the self contained garden and balcony are welcoming on a clear day. The cottage is in a really quiet location on the outskirts of Barnstaple with all areas of North Devon being easily accessible. Kate and Ali are the perfect hosts; very accommodating if you need help, otherwise you're left alone. We must like it as it's our second visit in two years!

Despite comments by others the creaky floorboards are all part of the charm!

We had such a lovely stay at Great Lily Cottage, both myself and husband loved the location, it was great seeing all the animals and my daughter loved collecting fresh eggs and feeding the chickens everyday. If we did require anything within the property Kate & Ali were always very accommodating on supplying us with anything needed.

The only minor issue we had is due to the house being so open plan you could hear all noises from the top even if you were on the bottom floor which obviously if youre trying to sleep was a bit challenging with 2 kids.

The location was fantastic, quiet, rural and very relaxing. The property was spotlessly clean, fully equipped and very comfortable. Access is via a short farm track which is a little 'rugged' but fine if you take your time and check out the alpacas in the field as you go. It's ideally located for trips out and Barnstable is only a few minutes away for shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Highly recommended if you want a quiet retreat that's not too far from civilisation. We'll definitely be returning soon!

Cosy, especially with the lovely fire when the rain was pouring outside. Really comfortable beds; nice secure garden for the dog and a fabulous welcome hamper. Responsive hosts and delicious eggs from the resident chickens. Highly recommend!

Squeaky floorboards but only because our children are early risers even when on holiday! 🙄🤣

The Great Lilly Cottage is my children's favourite holiday - lots of green spaces around with beautiful fauna and flora, close to Barnstable and the surfing beaches of North Devon, lots of hiking paths... The cottage itself is perfect for a family of 4 and the hosts are always very helpful.

nothing really. if i have to be critical at all, be careful with the bed on the ground floor. I managed to dislocate my little toe in the first five minutes as I didn't notice the heavy wooden leg of the bed. was walking round with a big bruise. This is in no way the fault of the owners, just an observation for other tenants to keep in mind.
