Frasers of Whitby

The house was very close to the town and seafront but in quiet surroundings. Everything you could require from a holiday property was provided. "Welcome pack" also provided. Parking was right outside the house but whilst I always managed to park, a busy times it might be difficult.

I didn't realise the bathroom was on the ground floor or that the kitchen was in the basement.

This is probably our own fault we should have checked the layout of house before booking. The only thing that put us off was the stairs. Kitchen was all the way downstairs, bathroom and living room in middle floor and bedrooms was top floor. There was alot of climbing up and down so if you have small children it was slightly risk hazard. The stairs were very steep and narrow so if you are not used to it then even an adult can have a trip hazard. Again this cant be helped as we noticed all the houses around that area was tall and narrow with same layout. Also there is a see through window from top of the front door where is facing the flats opposite and they can see clearly into the house. Perhaps to put a small curtain for privacy. Other than that if you dont have small children then this place is good for you

Nice cottage and host. The treats left for the children were lovely, especially after a long drive. The beds were comfy and we had everything we needed.

This beautiful little cottage was perfect for our stay - it was very clean and characterful. It’s walking distance to the harbour so all amenities are near by. Easy parking.

There was nothing we didn’t like - the only thing for future guests to be aware of is that the kitchen and living room are on different floors - there isn’t a dining area as part of the lounge. It didn’t bother us though.

The location was excellent, just a short walk in to Whitby. The properties facilities were excellent with everything we needed. The host responded to messages quickly. There was free parking near the house. A thoughtful welcome tray was waiting for us on arrival.

Good communication from the host, comfortable and well-equipped property in a convenient location for exploring Whitby. A lovely big bath and powerful shower! We didn't have an issue finding a free parking space outside the property (arriving around 3pm on a Friday).

Nothing to do with the property itself - but worth flagging that the wildfires still happening nearby made it unpleasant to be outside from mid afternoon onwards on both days we were in town, due to the prominent smell of smoke. We could also smell it inside the property, so had to keep all the windows firmly shut, which made it quite hot.

Parking was a bit of a gamble and the kitchen door was rather heavy and slammed loudly which is awkward when holding cups/plates and kids are asleep. A door stop or some system for a soft close would be beneficial. Lovely otherwise
