Symonds Yat West Holiday Cottage 8 WRC with views of Yat Rock

The property is clean, comfortable, value for money, and in a very good location, but 'stunning' not! Everything works okay, though we had a problem with the shower (pull the cord very hard!) and the kitchen light (works the opposite way round from expected). Beds are comfortable, decent seating in the living room, easy to park, good wifi.

If it hadn't been for the 'stunning' we'd probably have had slightly lower expectations ... The property is part of a large row of similar houses built in the 1970s(?) and now a bit the worse for wear. Similarly the property's decor, from creaky upstairs floorboards to loose knobs on the kitchen drawers. For us the main downside was the quality of the kitchen implements – rusty frying pan, blunt knives, a one-person cafetiere for a 4-person apartment (?). Would be very easy to rectify, but maybe owners don't expect visitors to cook these days.

The cottage needs a bit of TLC. There was a leak in the toilet outlet pipe, behind the toilet itself, and they had put a glass dish there to collect the drips when you flushed the toilet - absolutely awful. The bed was too soft, and not comfortable.

Beautiful views, great local walks, a lovely pub and all amenities to make your stay relaxing. Bed was super soft. A supply of games to play while listening to the radio.

Great location at Symonds Yat West just along from the rapids. Great walking both north and south along the Wye and inland into the hills. Old Ferrie Inn is about 10 mins walk along a riverside road.

Location and scenery stunning. Local pubs food was amazing. Property was well equipped and comfortable.

Bed was a little too soft for us. Log burner was grand, just couldn't figure how to close it down so it didn't burn thru the logs so quick.

Lovely cottage, great location, had everything we needed.

The property was great value for money in a fabulous location. Also it was dog friendly as we were staying for the Christmas break.

There were a few housekeeping issues that I messaged seperately about. Eg, unemptied bins - not deal breakers for the money. Parts of the property were rather shabby such as the kitchen floor,
