Merlin House

The house is really pretty and picturesque both inside and out. The facilities are great. As a mum, I really liked having access to cleaning products and equipment so I could tidy as we went. I would've loved to take advantage of the garden, and I could picture a lovely family evening around the table in a hot sunny evening. But, it wasn't quite June weather when we were staying. I also think the lounge would look lovely around Christmastime.

I wish there'd been more storage for food but I guess this isn't a problem for standard visitors. We were a family coming "home" for a week and we wanted to eat ALL THE FOOD! I think, my biggest issue is the same as most people's. Having the driveway is great, but accessing it is pretty scary. I'm lucky my husband is a confident, and good, driver - I wouldn't have attempted to get on the drive myself. Even if I'd made it past the wall, I'd have been scared I'd fall off the drive.

The beds were comfortable and milk and coffee pods were provided.

The house could have been aired before our arrival, it had a stale smell on arrival which while not horrible wasn't very welcoming. The house would benefit from a thorough clean - it looked a bit worn with cobwebs and a few dead woodlice on the stair carpet and there was a layer of dust on the coffee machine.

It was well equipped. Clean and had plenty of space. It was also in a great location for what we needed. Beds were very comfortable.

It is on the junction and one night work men came late to do something but apart from that the location didn’t bother us

Great little cottage, clean, spacious and well equipped. Hosts kindly left lights and heating on for our late arrival, plus wood for the woodburner to make us feel at home. Beds were comfy, with really cosy bedding. Large co-op two minutes walk away for grabbing essentials and easy access to the A483 for getting around.

Getting in and out of the parking space was a bit hair-raising. I wouldn't have wanted to do it in anything larger than our average-sized family car. We'd have appreciated a king size bed in place of one of the doubles. It's hard for two adults to get a good night's sleep in a standard double, especially when one of them snores!

Property size was good with plenty of space .

Doors creaked (hinges need WD40) heating not working and required the host to attend properly to fix on two occasions . No logs or fire lighters as it wasn’t officially winter according to hosts despite temps hovering at near zero .
