Location and character.

Not enough sofas to sit everyone comfortably in the lounge.

"Great house in a lovely location."

7.0

The house is in a fantastic location with plenty of walks on the doorstop. The owner also has a coffee shop next door where we went for a delicious breakfast. The house is very well equipped and comfortable with a big garden which will be gorgeous in the Summer and great if you have dogs with you.

The house had not been used for a while and although the owner had put the heating on it took nearly 12 hours to heat up. There was an open fire, electric blankets and heaters so we managed.

Stunning house and great location! Well equiped and homely. Views from the lounge of Penshaw Monument were amazing, we loved seeing the horses too.

Country cottage vibes with plenty of room very homely

The internet didn’t allow for Netflix ect on TV but could be easily resolved by bringing downloads on iPad for kids

"A sad visit (family funeral) made better by a beautiful location."

7.0

This is a beautiful location. We arrived late so didn't fully appreciate our surroundings until the next morning. The view from the floor to ceiling windows in the living area are wonderful. I've never seen Penshaw up close and it was quite something! Playful horses in the field outside weee entertaining! Sofas were very comfy and the carpet is immaculate. Icy northern drinking water is (as always) the best! The whole place is nicely decorated with a number of personal touches that make it feel quite homely. It's also Dog friendly - a rarity these days. There's a terrific oven in a spacious and very well equipped kitchen. It was clean and well looked after. As a bonus, it was accessible to local deliveries and Tesco Whoosh!

Heating didn't come on to warm the property up before we arrived so it was 9 degrees. Owner was very helpful, responded to every phone call and message and resolved the issue although our first night was spent in coats and hats with electric heaters while the place warmed up - it took hours! A few logs for that glorious log burner would have made all the difference! There's a running tap in the downstairs bathroom that needs attention and the wi fi didn't work. Wasn't too much of an issue as we weren't there very long. Be mindful of a shortage of plugs in bedrooms - bring back up batteries for your devices and you definitely want slippers as the floor in the kitchen is Baltic (and the radiator didn't seem to work). There is under floor hearing in the kitchen extension so you can hop from one floor to the other if you didn't bring slippers!!

Beautiful property in a gorgeous setting

TV reception is poor but we weren’t there to watch the telly but might be a disappointment if staying for a longer visit.
