The Shire House

Great place to stay in an excellent location. Lostwithiel is a charming village with good pubs and close to the Eden Project. It is clear that the host takes great pride in providing a welcoming stay for his guests. He was an excellent communicator, very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing old residence in close proximity of the town. Exceeded expectations. Rooms were really lovely and spacious. Kitchen large and well equipped. Bathrooms good. We had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Definitely recommend. Perfect for families.

The sofa in the living room was slightly uncomfortable.

Location of house,close to pubs,cafes and train station. Big spacious rooms in a delightful period property. Considerate owner provided everything we could possibly need.

Parking could have been an issue as the property has no parking But we were able to park every evening on our return without an issue

Beautiful house, perfect location in the centre of scenic Lostwithiel with a view of the river. Dog friendly. Comfortable beds and furniture, great shower, well equipped kitchen. WiFi and phone signal were good so I was able to work as well as play. Lots of food and drink opportunities in walkable distance and further afield. Good sized Co-Op a minute away, and some great local shops too, a delicatessen, antique, craft and gift shops. Restormel Castle was very atmospheric and Golitha Falls made for a lovely walk. Lostwithiel train station is a few minutes' walk with stops to Penzance and Plymouth. Christopher, our host, was an absolute gentleman. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely return to The Shire House.

We didn't like the fact that we don't live here.

The house was very impressive- rooms were large and comfortable with great facilities including a splendid kitchen area and lounge - the new wet room was also impressive and convenient. The access to local shops and amenities was an added bonus and we really enjoyed the garden and patio area.

We were slightly concerned about the stair carpet , although very attractive, it did have a few trip hazards
