"Family of 11 stayed at The Granary, plenty of space, lovely surroundings. Great value for money."

8.0

Beautiful surroundings & great sunset views, plenty of space inside and out for our family of 11 staying at The Granary. It was definitely worth paying extra to use the hot tub.

- Outside patio area could do with a revamp/upgrade to make it feel more modern & luxurious. Also the paving/concrete as you stepped out of the kitchen doors onto the patio was a little cracked/uneven which made it a hazard for tripping. - Utility room could do with a good clean, there were dead flies and dust on the windowsill when we arrived.

"A lovely country escape - perfect for family gatherings"

8.0

We loved that it felt like “home” and had all the amenities needed for a family gathering and celebration. It was situated in a beautiful area that made us feel like we were on a “country escape” but also close enough to pubs, shops and attractions

The rooms were a little small, the beds were tiny (singles) and old and there was nowhere to put your toiletries in the bathroom (we had to use the windowsill).

"Great base for visiting Peak District"

10.0

We had a great weekend with a friend’s group, visiting Peak District from this base (coach house building). We had a great time here and enjoyed the large well equipped kitchen, hot tub, and tennis courts. This is a great location for a retreat. While not exactly in the Peak District it is in a very lovely rural location and driving to places in the south Peak District is easy.

Some doors were super creaky (especially kitchen door) so it was hard to move around in the morning or evening without waking others. Layout has two en suite and a 3rd bathroom, meaning 6 of us share the single bathroom. It’s fine depending on how you arrange the group uses them but it’s good to note.

"Lovely place for a family gathering to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary."

8.0

Loved the pool table and tennis court. Space enough for our group to be together. Beautiful location with easy access to local attractions.

Bedroom doors didn't shut properly and were very loud to open and close. The lounge needs soundproofing. Noise from the party in the Granary was way too loud and went on too late making it impossible to relax in the lounge in the evening. Fortunately we had taken an airbed to use in the double bedroom as it would have been impossible to sleep on the sofa bed. Previous dog owners hadn't bothered to clear the mess on the lawn. We took 3 dogs but made sure the lawn was clear before we left. There were 3 marked carpark spaces outside the cottage which had been taken by other groups. As we had travelled from Scotland and Kent we arrived late and had to park away from the cottage, not great as two of our group are elderly with mobility issues. The venue itself is lovely, as with most places catering for multiple large groups, particularly hen and stag parties, it is the inconsideration and thoughtlessness of others that causes problems.

We had a lovely stay at the forge cottage. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The hot tub was a real highlight being able to watch the stars after a game of tennis on the courts . The location was great, with beautiful countryside. We would definitely recommend it and would happily stay again very soon.

cooker is a little hard to work but we managed.
