Bank House | Peak District

Having stayed in and around Longnor previously, I chose this property mainly for its location, which is ideal if you want a nice quiet village location, with access to a great local pub and fish and chip shop. These are both right on the door step. Along with a convenience store and post office. The accommodation itself was nice and spacious for 2 of us. We stayed in the 1 bed apartment on the top floor. It has a decent sized living / kitchen area with a hallway / landing leading to the bathroom and bedroom. The accommodation has all the essentials (Oven, microwave, TV etc) and an open fire. The host had prepared logs, coal, kindling etc which was a nice touch. This an old property with lots of character

The accommodation was uncomfortably cold when we arrived and was still cold the following morning. I contacted the host and she changed the heating settings which improved the temperature for the remainder of our stay.

We were so pleasantly surprised at the size of the accommodation - we stayed in the 1 bed apartment, with our 2 small dogs. We received clear directions from the host, perfect updates, milk in the fridge, it was just lovely! Perfect central location, we travelled to luds church, Thors cave, ladybower reservoir, dovedale steps, Ilam park & kinder scout all in great time! The village has a shop, fish and chips, and a pub. The bed was comfortable, as was the sofa. We had a fire (newspaper, kindling and logs all prepared by the fantastic host). Really can’t fault it!

The internet was patchy - as you would expect in an old property in a remote village. This didn’t bother us at all, but may affect others.

Location, facilities in location, clean, tidy functional

Felt functional rather than welcoming and homely

great location for exploring the surrounding area. very quaint olde village and next door's shop has everything you may need. hopefully the soon to be re-opening of the refurbished pub will add even more useability for those staying at the property. offroad parking outside too.

firewood, none supplied. would've been a nice gesture to have the log basket with some wood in it to facilitate use of the stove. It's an old house, which adds to the charm but it was a little dusty n cobwebby in places.

Could do with some sharper knives in thr kitchen.
