The Drey - Modern cottage for four in York Centre

Very quiet and safe feeling location close to everything (rail station, city centre, river, shops). Homely feel, clean and comfortable.

Tight entrance to bathroom (towels on rack and light pull cord catch on door). Kitchen needs a few more teaspoons, oven gloves and bin/ recycling info. Some neighbour noise through walls (and wary they can hear you).

Very clean, and a great location for a short walk to all major visitor attractions. Very quiet on an evening. The Host was very responsive also a nice little touch was a few little packets of milk in the fridge which made life a little easier on arrival for a drink.

The only semi issues I had was that there is a washer but at my time of staying there was no means of drying washing after washed. I spoke with the the host and they do have an airer ordered, it unfortunately did not arrive during my stay. Luckily it was warm weather but it would have been a real struggle in winter. And personally I would have liked some form of blackout blinds in the bedrooms, as staying in summer my children sensed the sun at 4am and were wide awake. 😊

cleanliness was disgraceful. We could not check in on time (15:00) due to the cleaners being late, But their problem should not become my problem. I was also disappointed by being blamed for putting the cleaners under pressure to clean the property, however,this was down to the previous guests leaving the property in a poor condition. There was dirty crockery left in the dishwasher, the floors had not been swept or mopped, there was a crack in the wall of about 0.5m, the fridge was dirty inside, the kitchen had a smell of grease, which permeated upstairs to the rooms, the bathroom was very small, the shower curtain needs replacing...I could go on. I was offered a late check out by an hour as way of an apology. This was an insult. The company managing the property have no concept of customer service. If you have standards, I would not recommend staying at this property. The only plus it has going for it, is the location. I did ask if I could get a full refund on the day of arrival, to be told no. If I did, I would have checked into a hotel. I'm disappointed by the property but more so by the company who manage it.

Small but perfectly formed! Clean and tidy, with smart, modern decor. It had everything a family of four needed for a weekend away.

Very minor things: one of the bedside lights in the smaller bedroom didn't work and we could have done with some larger baking trays!

Cleanliness and Location

The small brass monkey used as a weight on the bathroom pull cord, too heavy and it's going to smash that glass mirror one day. Seriously that's the only fault I had with the place, it was splendid in all other aspects.
