Lounge & Kitchen were nice. Bedrooms fine with good storage and our mattress was comfy.

The stairs up from the front door v steep. I think a warning to visitors would be a good idea. An international traveller with a large suitcase would struggle. The pillows were too hard and thick, and I thought the bedlinen a bit tired. Floor 1 shower bathroom poor and cramped.

Location for shopping is excellent, right in the centre of York you couldn't get any better. Close to the train station, easy access to everywhere. A lovely quirky little property over 3 floors.

The down side to being in such a great location is the fact it is opposite a 24 hour McDonald's, the 2 main bedrooms with lovely comfortable, spacious beds overlook the main street, directly opposite McDonald's, which seems to be a haven for drunken arguments, fights and a lot of noise all through the night, followed by the McDonald's lorry unloading at stupidly early o'clock in the morning. The only quiet room was the one at the back with the very small double with a mattress which felt like it was filled with rocks. Heating can be an issue as some bright spark has put the temperature thermostat directly over a radiator.

The beds are so comfortable it was unreal! I felt the topper, and I loved it. In my opinion you can never have everything. If you want to be close to city, you will always get noise. None the less, I had a very comfortable stay.

The noise of party goers is unavoidable when you want to be central, this is no mark on this house, but the noise from the nightlife was a bit on the high side.. but I still give this place 10 of 10 for everything ..

Location was great, right in the heart of York.

Unfortunately the 24/7 McDonald's is right across the road, fighting, police cars, screaming, shouting till after 4am for 3 nights

This is in a perfect location.. everything literally on your doorstep.. if you struggle with stairs, I wouldn't recommend it as there are 3 floors.. it's facing macdonalds and can get quite noisy at night, but the double glazing is excellent quality.. we were a group of over 60s friends and we didn't want to come home.. highly recommend..

The house is old with not enough facilities. For eg, no shampoo, bath liquid or even a piece of cleansing soap. Only one roll of toilet tissue in the toilet for 3 days for 3 people. The washing basic in the toilet on the first floor is very tiny. If you brush your teeth, you will make the floor wet.

The furniture is old and not clean. There is some smell inside the house. The bed is too soft and not even.

Where shall I start! Don’t be fooled by the pictures online which show a light, airy, modern town house. It is drab, dull, smelly, tired, grubby and generally broken in a few places. Noise levels! Don’t stay here if you want a good nights sleep. Windows don’t close properly and location being right opposite a 24/7 McDonald’s is not ideal. Continual rowdiness and the odd fight thrown in for good measure until at least 5.30 in the morning - every morning. You might get half an hour’s sleep before the refuse lorries arrive at 6am. The 9.2 booking.com certificate of excellence displayed inside is dated 2014 therefore somewhat out of date. We tried to find somewhere else to stay but unfortunately were unable to. Contacted the letting company and expected more than a standard apology. Gutted is an understatement- lesson learned.
