We love the location for sure, the beds are awesome and comfortable. The host is also very accommodating and helpful. We were there for Gion Matsuri and it is a perfect spot to be because it is a quite environment and you gotta see Maiko-san/Geiko-san getting ready for their activities.

The light in the common area is a bit dark, however other than that, everything is just fine :)

The location although a few steps inside a narrow path is superb as it is within the area where you can still see real geishas. Very accessible on foot to lots of temples, restos and stores. The house is a well preserved and authentic Japanese machiya. The highlight is the host who provided valuable tips on where to go and even went the extra mile to meet us nearby for check in and call a taxi on check out. We wont forget your kindness Patrick!

We enjoyed living the traditional Japanese lifestyle in a quiet and charming neighborhood yet very central. The living space is compact yet everything works and seems to organize well together.

I was travelling with my two children and wish there was an optional daily maid service offered. Also, it would have been handy for me to have a babysitter recommendation. The apartment wasn’t easy to find. Although the pin on the map is almost accurate the actual home is next door on the back street.

Excellent location. walking distance from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station, Gion area, Kiyomizu Temple area. Several restaurants near by. Lovely host family. We arrived there during the window the host wasn't available but they gave us the key code to enter. Having a washing machine & dryer was great! It's an older Japanese style property (Kyoto size), so very cozy but we were very comfortable!

We couldn't get TV stations to come in but that was very minor part. The stairs are steep. I ended up coming down backwards using the handrail. lol. Washing room and toilette room are very narrow. Since the toilette is an old style Japanese one converted to western style, I'd recommend watching your head if you're a tall person.

The location is good, it is very convenient to walk to the subway station, and the surrounding attractions are also easy to walk to.There is a washing machine, which is very convenient for travelers to wash clothes.The owner is British so there is no language barrier in Japan. He also gave us some travel tips, very nice guy.

Perhaps because of the century-old house, there are not enough power plugs to meet the possibility of charging the electronic products carried by contemporary people at the same time.

The location was great - right in the centre of Gion! It was a comfortable stay, and I'd stay in Kyomaru again when I come back to Kyoto. Patrick was a great host too.
