Kyomaru

Loved the location in the authentic street. Very central and yet quiet. The apartment gave us the feeling of living in an authentic Japanese home. The owner was very nice, came immediately when we had some issues with one of the airconditionings and had treats ready for us on arrival.

The location of Kyomaru was perfect. We wanted to be in a quiet neighborhood and this delivered while still being steps away to everything we hoped to see while in Kyoto. It isn't easy to find a place in Japan that can fit a family of four! It was so nice to have a washer/dryer during our stay. Our hosts were great communicators and made sure we knew our way around the space.

Host was easy to communicate with and friendly. The place is small but has everything you need - very well located in the middle of the geisha district. Great for a family. (Keep in mind very tricky stairs for anyone with mobility issues).

Patrick meet us at the guesthouse and turned on the AC before we arrived which was helful since it was around 35 C. He spent a considerable time explaining and showing the house. He answered all of our questions and gave very useful tips. The location was excellent since everything is close by. We were very fortunate to pass by a geisha on her way to work too. We will definitely come back here when we return to Kyoto.

The restroom was a little tight but manageable with three persons. Overall the house was twice as big as the hotels we stayed in Japan.

This property really made us feel Like we were in Japan, location amazing and make sure you find the little hidden gems like robins bar and grace note, also the Japanese gastro pub. Seeing geisha was a highlight

Everything was great, although we didn’t find the fridge until the last day, it is in the downstairs wardrobe

Patrick, our host, was amazing. He met our taxi in the street to show us how to find the place and then came in to help us get settled. He answered our questions about how we should spend our time in Kyoto and gave us advice on the best itinerary. He even let us know about a local event that was happening. He was also incredibly responsive to questions that we sent to him throughout our stay. The place was also great -- it was nice to have a separate bedroom after being in hotel rooms up until then. The location was also wonderful -- so much to see within easy walking distance.

Very steep stairs may not suit some people.

It is a lovely little space that has a homely feeling. Great location. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful.
