Terrific Japanese house in a great location with plenty of space. Our host Patrick was also top notch. We communicated well, he’s friendly and gave us great advice to make sure that we enjoyed our visit to Kyoto. We also saw Geisha just out the front door

The location was outstanding Patrick was incredible, awesome tips and really responsive to texts. The bedding was next level. The duvets were like sleeping under clouds. So convenient to have a washer and dryer. Patrick had labelled all buttons and detailed instructions perfectly. This was a quiet area amongst a busy neighbourhood. Great to come back to after a day amongst the heaving tourists

Amazing traditional home in great location in historic Gion area. Family of 4 stayed 3 nights. Very comfortable beds and bedding. Definitely recommend staying here if you are an average sized person or smaller with no mobility issues. The stairs are steep but not like a ladder—just hold the rail and go down backwards. Table and chairs are low so you are getting up off the floor. Bathroom/kitchen/dining and TV are on main floor, bedroom is upstairs. Hard to find the first time but there is a small round sign that marks the alley (see picture). Patrick was great! He was standing on the street when we arrived so we knew where to stop, and he showed us around the place and gave good suggestions.

We liked it but may not be suitable for larger person or anyone with mobility issues.

The traditional ambiance was very nice. Near to the city centre.

Everything was fine

We really loved the location and the traditional decor. It also gave us quite a bit of space in the larger rooms to relax with each other. The convenient placement of power outlets on the nightstand was great for us. It was very central to all of the locations we wanted to visit and only a 7 minute walk to the station. Nishiki Markets was not too far from us either!

Patrick met us at the entrance to the alley and led us to a perfect Japanese house. The house is located in the old Gion neighborhood. It was great to arrive at a place that looked exactly like the description and photos on the website. The house was equipped with everything needed for a stay of several days and Patrick who was super nice gave us a detailed explanation about Kyoto including recommendations on routes to make good use of our time in Kyoto. Already on our first evening we met Japanese geishas in the alleys and that's what happened every evening. It was a great experience. The house is in a very convenient place and close to all interesting places. The rooms were very spacious, the beds were super comfortable, the ac was great and the shower was comfortable with plenty of hot water. The house also has a washer and dryer which was a big plus. Thank you very much Patrick, your great house and the good recommendations helped a lot to make our trip in Kyoto perfect

We had great communication with host, Patrick. He met us at house to check in. Very nice and quiet local neighborhood in Kyoto. We had great tradition sushi dinner at a block walking distance. 5 minutes easy walking to train station. Found a great local coffee shop two blocks away, FUKU roasters coffee. The place has washer/dryer and easy to use with instructions provided. Our family of 4 (2 teenage daughter) had a nice stay and sleep well at night after averaging 8 miles of walking a day around Kyoto attractions.

The location is a little further from the attractions of western and southern Kyoto. But it is close to the ones in the east. Metro/train stations at reasonable distances. Rooms decorated beautifully, traditionally

The staircase leading upstairs to the bedroom is extremely narrow and dangerous. The lack of a normal table for preparing and serving the meal is felt. The toilet is very small, almost claustrophobic
