"Traditional Japanese guest house with modern amenities in a prime location."

Brand new with modern amenities, but with traditional Japanese flair and layout. It was also very well located on a quiet side street along the canal, minutes walking from Gion and Yasaka Shrine / Maruyama Park.

Some of the house rules were a bit elaborate and confusing. In particular, not being able to bring luggage out of the foyer was a little strange. Would have appreciated a way to balance the owner’s desire to have rolling bags (which are “outdoor” like shoes) kept in the foyer with the convenience of having my luggage inside the rooms.
