Gion Shirakawa no Yado

My partner and I stayed here only for two nights whilst we were in Kyoto and it was our favourite accomodation by far. The house is warm and comforting, capturing the traditional Japanese lifestyle but with modern amenities. The beds are super comfortable and all the utilities are very clean - felt like 5 star accommodation. The house is in an amazing location, just a 5 minute walk from the beautiful Chion-in Temple, 20 minute walk from the iconic Hōkan-ji Temple, and in the other direction; 10 minute walk from the heart of Kyoto. The photos truely do not do it justice, it is so beautiful!

Like other reviews said, due to the wood floors, you’re not able to take your luggage upstairs but this is really isn’t an issue - just take your essentials out and leave your big bags downstairs :)

立地が素晴らしい。 観光地に近く、コンビニ、スーパーも近くにある。 内装が綺麗で、きっちり管理されていると感じた。コスパが良い。 目の前の川が美しい。

玄関の鍵の閉め方がわかりにくい。 説明が掲示されていればよかった。

Location and view onto the canal.

The location is great. We loved the canal along the river. The cars come fast around the corner though so be careful. The beds were comfortable. We loved the washer dryer combo, a lot of places in Japan only have a washer and hang dryer take longer, so having the dryer option was perfect. They provided nice amenities too.

Not being able to put the suitcases upstairs was truly a hassle. We had 4 people staying and there isn’t an enough room to open them in the small stone entry way to grab what you need. The couch also doesn’t fit 4 people and it’s uncomfortable. There is also no where to eat in the house, we grabbed take out a few times and didn’t know where to eat it.

House was absolutely gorgeous. Location was fantastic. Very clean.

Возле дома нельзя стоять (мешаешь движению машин) и об этом сразу жалуются хозяину. Окна были грязными и это обидно потому что вид за окном очень красивый и его хотелось сфотографировать.

屋内が広く清潔で大変良かった。

スーツケースの宅配や返送ができるとなお良いと思います。
