Nikko - House / Vacation STAY 40938

Good location between shrines & station. Despite the fact that its old and run-down, it was surprisingly clean, and we slept well. No problems with wi-fi. Stayed here early December with family of 4.

Outside looks like a shack, inside its old, cold and therefore uncomfortable. Bathroom freezing cold. Kitchen and main room had aircon & smelly electric heater, which made staying in those rooms bearable for a few minutes, but this is not a place where you can stay comfortably. Make sure you're outside all day and only come back to sleep. Too expensive for what it is.

The host was very caring and responded immediately to any requests. Couldn't have been more helpful!

Some furnishings old and there was a shortage of cutlery but good value in a central location.

Located ~800m from tobu-nikko station and tucked away just off main street, but not noisy at all. Cute, more traditional Japanese style home, however evidently old as per listing photos. Good and clean bathroom facilities. Reasonably roomy for 2 people and in comparison to some Japanese hotels/accommodation, however watch you head on the door frames if you're over 5'7"!

As other reviews mention, Wifi did not work at all, not a dealbreaker as we had data roaming and I was still able to do my online work but just an FYI. Mattresses on tatami mat floor could do with replacement, were clearly old in that they were very flat and sunken in the middle which made not a particularly comfortable night's sleep. Although the area is limited in accommodation, this is probably slightly overpriced for what it is and age of the facilities.
